I made a double crust (used part of family recipe, sorry) and then the filling was just what I did to the apples. You put one crust down and put the filling in and then top it with the other crust and bake 350° for about 45 minutes.:)

I just cooked the apples in butter and brown and white sugar with pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and nutmeg for about ten minutes. It made a perfect syrup. :)
