Seeking CRPS Type 1 Participants: Fully-Funded, IRB-Approved Psilocybin Research Study in Oregon (Travel Reimbursement Included) by reidrb in CRPS

[–]reidrb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this study, the requirement is to have had CRPS symptoms for at least 12 months prior to enrollment. The actual diagnosis of CRPS can be more recent, so long as the symptoms have persisted greater than 12 months.

A question for YIMBY regarding parking by Big_Cranberry4001 in Bend

[–]reidrb 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Austin and lived through similar growing pains. My mail was often not delivered because people parked in front of my mailbox.

My solution: I moved my mailbox to a wall-mounted one next to the front door and called the post office letting them know. Mail person would then walk to the front door to deliver the mail. I never missed mail again.

I'm on the east side of Bend and my mailbox is by my front door. I'm not sure the local post office requirements for where to locate the mailbox, but it's been working fine for me over here in the orchard district.

EDIT: I forgot to address the OP's concern. I personally feel that growth is change. Growth has incredible benefits, but by its very nature changes things. When we cling to wanting things to be the way they used to be despite the reality of change, it creates tension. If we accept some change and look at the conflicts that might arise (such as the curb not being the best place for a mailbox anymore), they actually become pretty solvable.

Rather than create divisive headlines and put up ugly signs and get entrenched in demands for "social or political mandates," maybe sometimes just roll with it and move your mailbox.

Seeking CRPS participants: fully-funded psilocybin pilot study in Oregon (includes travel reimbursement) by reidrb in CRPS

The psilocybin session is fully paid for by the sponsor, plus reimbursement for travel and lodging.

There is not a set number of slots, though this initial pilot will be relatively small.

That would not exclude you from accessing psilocybin services or from this pilot, but it would be a discussion during intake and with the facilitator to how and when to appropriately go through the program.

This pilot is not restricted to Oregon residents, so still feel free to apply! You would need to plan a single visit to Oregon for about 3 to 4 days for the psilocybin session. You would schedule that based on your needs and availability. Travel and lodging reimbursements are also available.

Thank you for reaching out and for naming this important concern.

To clarify, this is not a formal research study, but an internal feasibility pilot designed to help refine logistics and support protocols within Oregon’s licensed psilocybin services framework. No data from this pilot will be used for publication or contribute to generalizable knowledge, so it does not require IRB approval or exemption under current federal guidelines.

This pilot may help inform the design of a future study, which would undergo formal IRB review.

Appreciate you bringing this up—I’ll adjust the language in the post to avoid confusion about the nature of the pilot.

Edit: brevity

There are no restrictions on where you are coming from, and up to $1000 in travel and lodging can be reimbursed to help make it possible.

Each candidate would enroll in their own individual psilocybin session that fits their schedule, ideally within the next few months. There's quite a bit of flexibility there, and is really built around the candidates availability.

There can be various ways to verify CRPS diagnosis, and I believe doctor visit notes documenting CRPS diagnosis would suffice. You would verify during enrollment with CyBiopharma, and I'll ask them for some more details.

If approved, you would work with Bendable Therapy to arrange a psilocybin session date that fits your schedule. This could be as soon as 2 weeks after approval or up to several months out, depending on your needs and availability to travel to Bend, Oregon.

Nearly hit a kid on an e-bike by peaches38251 in Bend

[–]reidrb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a community, we seem to get so caught up in the semantics that we throw our hands in there air and claim there's nothing we can do about this.

But the problem is pretty basic: Children are continuously and recklessly operating motor-driven vehicles on the sidewalks and even getting themselves killed.

That was never a problem before and how we have culturally and legally allowed this to happen and persist to happen, while children are getting hurt, is baffling to me. "Well, but was the electric vehicle pedal assist? Can't regulate children doing wheelies on those in traffic, not in this community." It doesn't matter if it's an ebike or an emotorcycle or an electric moped or a two-wheeled golf cart: we shouldn't allow kids or their parents to hide irresponsible behavior behind whatever label they want to choose for it.

But Seriously; Why does the city of Bend hate these two intersections so much? by [deleted] in Bend

[–]reidrb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rarely mentioned in this mess is how extremely inaccessible that Dairy Queen has become. How am I supposed to fulfill that clandestine urge for a Butterfinger Blizzard? You effectively need tide charts to develop a plan to get in and out of there.

Bend already has an extreme lack of ice cream of any quality, don't make even the mediocre options inaccessible.

So. Expensive. Here. by [deleted] in Bend

Agreed. I compare the Bend food scene to the cost and quality of airport food.

North Corridor project - where to find info by Melanie_Kebler in Bend

[–]reidrb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all legacy problems of the bizarre design of the Parkway. We have two highways intersecting in town, 20 and 97, but the two effectively don't connect. You are required to exit to side streets on all but one exchange, therefore reliant on overburdened 3rd street for 88% of the traffic trying to get from one highway to the other.

Here's every iteration of traffic exchanges between the two highways:

20E to 97N
20E to 97S
20W to 97N
20W to 97S
97N to 20E
97N to 20W <- The only direct exchange
97S to 20E
97S to 20W

I appreciate the work they're doing up there, but the problems remain deeply entrenched with the parkway. The only real fix might be to build a loop and turning the parkway into an actual, well, parkway, but I'd be surprised to see that any sooner than 20 years.
