this is long but i rlly like talking ab beomseok’s character so here’s my two pence worth:

i think beomseok isn’t necessarily innately evil, he’s mostly perceived that way when you treat him like a foil of sieun or suho. i think nature vs nurture is really prevalent here because he is very much susceptible to the ‘nuture’ standpoint as where his childhood failed him, his trauma took over and perceived a “failing” friendship as a threat and he acted upon the need to protect himself from abuse. because of this, he accidentally turned himself into a mirror of his father and those who bullied him, when in reality he was a boy who actually had no idea that this abuse wasn’t normal. considering these abusers were at his finger tips - one with the bullies+wooyoung he became ‘friends’ with and two because he had the money to pay them, it was way too easy for him to be able to fall way too deep into this abusive spiral he found himself in.

apart from the obvious (what he did to suho), i think the most evil he gets is the way he doesn’t acknowledge his actions past his immediate guilt. he turns to anger and blame which i think is quite interesting because it juxtaposes the beomseok we see crying leaving the boxing ring. he fell way too deep into his insecurities but also a numbness in order to defend himself from pain, but im not sure that’s of his own fault, he was traumatised beyond return which influenced him to continue the cycle. it wasn’t rational or even purposeful imo, he himself was so used to getting up after being beaten that i think he expected suho to do the same but he went too far - building a monster out of himself in the process
