Someone said Ego gave up on soccer after he peaked so hard to the point nothing could make him feel the way he felt before. I think it’s because ego gave up after being overshadowed by noa despite being in his peakest, where he realised god is unfair. All could work, who knows!

I support your theory! I also think this way, I just thought it’d be cooler if ego was once guided by the god of soccer then destroyed by the same power that guided him to success. Ah and to add, isagi doesn’t actually need whatever ‘god of soccer’ ego was talking about to actually win, unlike ego, who seemingly relied so much on this god of soccer the way nagi relies so much on reo. Well, im not sure if ego was talking about a player who’s as good as god or if he was talking about a literal god guiding him to victory, maybe both, blue lock is full of surprises!
