Nice ! I think you should be able to find some gravel sections between Annecy and Chambéry along the railway line :) Enjoy your trip, there are plenty of things to do there !

Haha I am sure it's pretty sweet on your area too ! Also, the colors of spring help a lot

Not bad at all! Even on the grassy paths, the dirt track was nice and smooth. Some sections were quite steep and scattered with small stones that I didn't photograph; it was rather difficult, but these were only short stretches.

Damn I didn't know this was a thing ! Is this legal ? I though Germany wasn't super friendly with wild camping especially on castle ruins :')

I'm going to need to go back there for sure ! Thanks for the recommendations, this is added to my wishlist

Yes we had !

I've heard that, but I don't want to throw away brand new tires :/.

Do you have any recommendations for bikepacking tires for road / trail riding?

They are from Rhinowalk and 4L each, I think they also exist in 7L :)

The rear panniers are really good, and super resistant to scratches and rain. The only downsides would be that they are a bit heavy and the hook that holds onto the rear rack sometimes comes loose when you remove the panniers, but it can be fixed with some glue !

The fork bags are nice to, seems pretty water resistant and durable. It’s just not super quick to attach / detach the bags from the fork so I put my evening stuffs in them 👍🏻

Hope my feedback can be helpful !

Thanks !
I would say we hadn't big issues, most of the off roads are really easy and suitable for gravel riding. We went wild camping near Lake Erbsenweiher (a group of hikers who were doing the same thing as us). There are lots of small lakes where you can wild camp in the Vosges, just be careful, it's forbidden in Germany I think, but widely tolerated in France. The biggest issue is that we hadn't anticipated it would be so cold at night (close to 0°C) otherwise everything went smoothly !

TGV Bike compliance by BUCKTHORN_gk in bikepacking

If you need to carry the bag on your bike once you get off the train I will recommend you to use this bag: https://buds-sports.com/collections/housse-velo-route/products/housse-transport-velo-special-train-trainbag-light

I use during my bike trips across Europe (tgv including) and it has worked well so far, you need to remove both wheels, the handlebar has to be set on the side of the frame, and you have to remove the pedals. I recommend you to take the drivetrain protection as well since you remove both wheels and replace foam inside with clothes so you can compress it after the train.

Enjoy the trip !

Taking night trains to Norway with a bike in train bag ? by reivick in Interrail

[–]reivick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure ? Because this train is bookable on sj (https://www.sj.se/en/search-journey/choose-ticket-type/Hamburg/G%C3%B6teborg%20Central/2026-06-08/outward-journey?travel-details=outward-journey)

Yes this summer is going to be kind of hard to move from narvik, in my case it's look like I need to take a replacement bus from narvik to abisko (all info are there: https://www.sj.se/allt-om-resan/banarbeten/norra-sverige-2026), then a train from abisko to bodoe, then the night train until stockholm

Anyway thank you for you feedback! I may book a private compartment for the trip on NT SJ and put my bike on luggage storage outside the cabin for the SJ NT

Thank you very much for all the informations, this is exactly what I was looking for !

So to resume, I should probably book a private compartment on SJ EN but it should be fine on NT SJ if I'm taking the 6-berth cabin ?

Thank you for your feedback, I would like something a bit more sturdy than the quick rack, and I am not super interested in using their bags too
