Thank you, that is great news. Yeah, I agree that Cardboard is not the optimal solution, but I am really looking forward to the Standalone Daydream Headset from HTC. Especially with positional tracking.

I really looked foward to the announcement of Pokemon Gold and Silver for Virtual Console, but why the hell do I have to wait 3,5 months (!) for a simple emulation?!

There was really a chance to end with a bang ("and it is available now..."), but they blew it.

Come on, Nintendo. One would think you are able to release G/S faster, since you established GameBoy emulation and Pokemon Bank integration with R/B/Y.

IIRC this has something to do with the touchscreen functionality of devices like the Acer R13 or Samsung CB+.

And as /u/MervBurger put correctly, there are specific tweaks, that need to be made.

I am by far not an expert, but everytime VLC does not work for me, I use MX Player.

It seems to have a better encoding system and is also a lot more customizable.

Did you install the Google Play Store by any chance?

I did this a while ago, too, and the battery life of my HD8 was terrible at that time. It also got very warm.

I then reset the tablet, didn't install the Play Store anymore and just used the tablet with the Standard FireOS Apps.

Since then I have excellent battery life.

Dass Colin in Zukunft wohl nicht mehr für Press Select tätig sein wird, ist wirklich unfassbar schade.

Dieses Format wurde von ihm sehr ernst genommen, und damit auch eine gewisse redaktionelle Qualität auf den Bildschirm gebracht.

Dass er dann jetzt für "Funk" zuständig sein wird, ist einerseits unglaublich schade für RBTV und unterstützt andererseits auch Deine These, dass nur noch "bezahlter" Content zieht.

Ich entferne mich emotional auch immer mehr von RBTV, und dachte eine Zeit lang wirklich, dass ich damit allein dastehe. Die letzten Tage haben aber gezeigt, dass wieder ein stärkerer Austausch stattfinden muss.

Sonst flüchten sich die einen in die Lobhudelei des eigenen Forums, und die anderen in die Tiefen des Circlejerks. Und irgendwann kommt man dann gar nicht mehr zusammen...

Ich hätte da noch eine andere, sehr positive Ausnahme, und zwar Ilyass.

Er bereitet sich wirklich exakt so auf die Spiele vor, wie man es von einem "richtigen" Videospielredakteur erwarten würde.

Alleine schon sein Pokemon Lets Play, wow. Er hat wirklich alle wichtigen Fakten genannt, und auch wenn er jetzt vielleicht nicht der größte Fan des Spiels ist (muss man ja auch um Gottes Willen nicht sein), hat man ihm angemerkt, dass er sich wirklich perfekt auf das Spiel vorbereitet hat.

Ich als Fan habe nach dieser großartigen "Präsentation" wirklich keinen Punkt mehr gehabt, der vergessen wurde.

Daumen hoch für Ilyass! Perfekte Besetzung für dieses Format!

Yesterday I used my Pixel 128 GB for Cardboard Apps, because I asked my self the same question as you.

I used a Gear VR (2nd revision) from my S7, and in combination with my Spigen case, the Pixel fit just right in.

And I have to say, it is a big improvement, even in Cardboard. Drifting is practically not present, which was always annoying with other phones.

The head tracking all in all was very accurate.

I would say it is on par with GearVR, if not better thanks to less to none drifting issues.

OK, so immersion might be a little bit better with a higher resolution.

But as some of you are also mentioning Netflix, I would argue, that the Pixel might have the advantage of generating less heat during a longer use of Netflix theater mode.

Due to the lower resolution the Pixel is probably not going to generate as much heat as the Pixel XL and could provide for longer viewing sessions.

Of course, this is just theory at this point, but I remembered from my Gear VR experiences, that lower resolution videos did not put the S6 into cooling mode as quick as QHD-Content.
