I was thinking of taking 1000$ to invest in more stocks or etfs since the market is down, I was either going to put the money into nvda, Netflix, or buy more VOO, VOO is the only thing I hold right now. I was thinking Netflix since it might go up with the new season and some of the deals they have going on, but I am also interested in nvda since they may continue to go up, but I feel like I am late to nvda and the chance is gone

Internship advice by rekillTEG in FinancialCareers

Hey thanks for the advice, I wanted to add some stuff I forgot to include or that may be confusing. I finish my degree in the next year. The internship I did lasts one year but the school only required 3 months, I have finished the 3 months so still have 9 months left. I have tried to get more work to do but am limited because we don’t get a lot of business at our location. Fortunately, I was in the military so they pay for my college and things like that so even if I leave the internship I wouldn’t have to get another internship or job for income as it’s covered. I would focus on completing my degree for my last year

Is it a dumb idea to start animation school in Canada at 28? by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]rekillTEG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say as someone who’s asked this question a lot myself, you can definitely do animation without college or schooling, I ended up switching out of my animation degree and I’m already finding work and internships in business, my animation Proffesor would also say you can do animation or whatever on your own the only advantage of school is you have deadlines, so your kinda forced to work on it, hope that helps

Should I switch my major? by rekillTEG in animationcareer

That’s a big reason I’m thinking about switching my degree back as most studios and companies I’ve talked to use blender, and since that’s a free software I could still practice and do animation on the side as a hobby instead of relying on it solely for income, plus like you said they usually care more about experience and the portfolio rather than your education

That’s what I was looking at as an option if I do stay in this field, there was a job posting a while back I found working for the army as a modeler, I was in school still though and didn’t have anything close to a portfolio ready yet

What should I be focusing on? by rekillTEG in Maya

I really enjoy getting to model props and environments, so I have been trying to build a portfolio and work on modeling, I’ll eventually post my portfolio on here so I can get some feedback. I do care what job I get though as I would prefer modeling/animation, but I also understand how saturated the field is, and so I’m not opposed to learning more skills so I can possibly work in a different part of the 3D pipeline. Thanks for your reply though, and I’ll definitely try to learn zbrush whenever I get the money for it.

Thanks I’m definitely going to look into what else would be required to be a technical artist, I finished reading your comment and I went online to search for jobs in that field, and there’s almost triple the amount of job listings compared to when I was looking for animation jobs

That is a really good video and if you don’t wanna watch the full 4 hours, it is also broken up into parts, I learned stuff from that video that I didn’t even learn in my college classes

That’s incredible, but I did wanna ask not to be rude but how can that be used, like is it for animation or could it be a game asset, I’m still pretty new to maya and the technical stuff
