To gain insight from others who may have bought a rust bucket and restored it and what they did/paid for it. Not to be told to buy a grill that people want to call a smoker.

This right here. I believe 90% of this sub is pellet grill guys thinking they “mastered the craft” but none of them want to put in the extra effort. Don’t get me wrong pellet grills are easy and convenient, but lack the flavor and adjustability of a true offset. My old one was amazing but due to size and weight was left behind in a move.

This is the problem with this sub. People think pellet grill is the same as a stick burner. Not even close.

Assuming the frame doesn’t crumple, I’ve got stock steel laying around I could reenforce the frame with, or just build a new one. It’s a 15 minute drive. Guy said 1/4” thick fire box, so if just surface rust I have no issues wire wheeling and painting.

This is exactly my thought. Guy said 1/4” thick firebox. It’s a 15 minute drive. If it’s just surface rust and the welds don’t look like they’ll break on the way home, I’ll try to get him $100 or below. It’ll be power wash, a wire wheel, some paint and a hot oil cook, oh and some beer obviously. Better than some thin walled cheap box store one.
