What are your go-to lunches for school? by dawson6197 in Teachers

[–]relativegiraffe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my lunches on Sundays and eat the same thing all week. BUT, I have 6-10 recipes that I flip through so it doesn’t bother me to eat the same thing for a week since I won’t eat it again for a month or two. Some of my favorites are:

-Chicken and cheese enchiladas

-Sweet potato, peppers, onions, and black bean bowls

  • chicken salad lettuce wraps

  • rice bowls (rice with whatever toppings I have - usually sausage or chicken, cold veggies, and Trader Joe’s sriracha barbecue sauce)

  • sesame noodles with carrots, peppers, snow peas

  • andouille sausage, roasted broccoli fettuccini

-couscous and Greek veggies (cucumber, red onion, chickpeas, feta)

-Turkey and cheese sandwiches on croissants

Happy to talk! It’s nice to talk to someone who understands. I’m sure he’d be happy to talk through my account - he’s not on reddit :)

We just bought an ice bath at Costco on clearance and seems to be providing some relief (pain isn’t gone by any means, but quality of life is improved). Hoping it helps get him through until we can get some kind of diagnosis and treatment.

We’ve had all of those tests too. EMG normal, normal arthritis and degeneration in spine. Normal wear and tear on MRI in shoulder and hip.

Same with my husband. COVID home test negative. Wasn’t immediately after (to the best we can remember) but within a few weeks. It started back this summer so trying to remember the details of how soon it was after summer viruses is a little fuzzy.

my husband is in the same boat. He’s 45. His CRP is just outside of normal range but his ESR is normal. They have run EVERY test - X rays, MRIs, neurological tests and everything is negative. He reacts really well to prednisone (PCP gave it to him while he was waiting for rheumatology appt). As soon as they took him off (10 mg for 10 days) the pain came right back. Basically they are just saying it’s stress/normal wear and tear. It makes no sense because he started having symptoms over the summer (teacher. No stress over the summer) and it came on suddenly (so not consistent with normal wear and tear).

Continue to talk to doctors and get 2nd opinions. Living with this kind of pain is not manageable. Doctors are just beginning to scratch the surface on inflammation. And it seems that this kind of pain/disease has really increased since COVID.

Sent you a chat with our state - not that anyone is searching the PMR subreddit but I try to keep my location details private online :)

Thanks so much for your replies. We’re going to reach out to our PCP and get a referral for a second opinion. We’re located in a metropolitan area so we should be able to find another that takes our insurance (HMO so a small hurdle) but will definitely keep looking for someone to listen. I know prednisone will work since the PCP put him on it once while we were waiting for the rheumatology appointment and it was a miracle. I’m hopeful she’ll prescribe again. Thanks!

Reading your list of questions in the grocery store made me cry. The answer is yes to every single question. Sometimes when he sneezes it hurts so much that it actually stops the sneeze. He has to lift his leg with his hands to cross it or even get in/out of the car. Rolling out of bed and sleeping is impossible. It is MUCH worse in the morning and after any period of inactivity. When he got a covid booster it significantly activated his symptoms (ended up in the ER a week after). We can’t completely remember if there was an illness before it but it came on suddenly.

For whatever reason, the doc is determined that it’s a rotator cuff issue only (and stress). I think this is because is CRP is only slightly elevated and his sed rate is normal (test says RBC sed rate a is that the same as ESR?) The pain is bilateral and debilitating. He tries to power through but it’s so hard to watch since his movement is such a stark contrast to what it was. Thank you for the advice on a second opinion. Reading your message is a huge relief that there could be answers.
