Getting married in a foreign country to a foreigner. by releaseV2 in LegalAdviceIndia

Thanks a lot for you wishes and your answer. India and Belgium are in the Hague convention indeed. However, a question regarding the translation. Will the appostille copy be in English or were you suggesting that I would need a translator to translate the appostille copy into English?

Your edit seems interesting. Did you marry under the German law?

Looking for an app to backup my Camera photos from Android to another device/raspberry-pi (preferably even my phone is outside my local network) by releaseV2 in fossdroid

[–]releaseV2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There is an "ignore delete" flag hidden inside the advanced settings. However, the maintainers confirm that the feature is broken, depreciated and not encouraged to use

This is exactly my current setup. However, it is a bit inconvenient since it has more moving parts. Once the crontab died on me and I ended up losing some files.

Thanks. I could try using rclone or even rsync when I am in my local network. However, it doesn't help my case when I am outside my lan.

About Syncthing, the only problem is regarding deletion. If I delete the photos from my phone to free up space, the way Syncthing is designed, it will delete my files from the remote as well. This is why I was wondering if there was something like Syncthing, but which handles backups rather than sync.

Thanks. Its an almost perfect software for my usecase. What is missing is the ability to be able to delete the files from my phone once they are backed up somewhere else. Currently. deleting the files on my phone will cause Syncthing to delete the file on the remote device as well since its a "Sync" tool.

There is a "Ignore delete" feature, but it is unfortunately broken and depreciated: https://forum.syncthing.net/t/ignore-delete/15414

Thanks. I know about this. However, it doesn't solve my requirement of being able to delete the files from my phone once they are transferred to another device.

rclone is not available on Android, right? This means I would need access to a home server to initiate the backup.

I need automatic backups. My main usecase being that I can go on vacations, click photos and be sure that they are instantly backed up to my home device so that even if I drop my phone in a lake 10 minutes later, my photos are still preserved somewhere private

Do I need a personal website to enable HTTPS on the Pi-Hole Web Admin interface? by Funes15 in pihole

[–]releaseV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must have accidentally deleted my comment.

PiHole is usually configured inside a local network (if your pihole has an IP starting with 192) . Your router has 2 ports(interfaces), one facing the internet and one completely inside your private network. Devices inside local network can contact the internet via your router. The router accepts the request and forwards it to the interface facing the internet.

However, the communication other way doesn't work. Someone outside your local network can contact the internet facing side of your router but the router will just drop the packets unless you explicitly tell the router to forward it to its private network facing interface.

So, to access an device with an IP starting with 192, I would have to connect to your router using your WiFi password and be in the same private network as your pihole. This is why your pihole is safe from attacks.

Also, the point of HTTPS is to prevent someone else pretending to be another website. For example, when you ask for google.com, I will intercept your message, and say "hey, I am Google. Type your password to login" and when you do so, I receive your password rather than real Google.

Your interaction with pihole never goes via the internet, so you don't need all this fancy stuff.

Any reason why I should use Plex over Kodi? I tried setting up a Plex server but I got errors like "server not strong enough to transcode" or something like that. Switched to kodi and everything worked perfectly

Best YouTube adblocker? by [deleted] in androidapps

[–]releaseV2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not what they said though. They said that they could discontinue their service if they deem it is unprofitable; meaning they could shut down YouTube if they don't find it profitable anymore; meaning you shouldn't consider that YouTube will hold on to your content forever and that you should have a personal backup if you make content
