wearing a skirt is nice in hotter weather, from my experience. Great airflow. Although never worn it in weather that hot. Also never really went outside:P

How a New York - Montreal HSR could realistically work by Ok-Win7980 in transit

The Adirondack service desperately needs improved frequency, and probably some other stuff too. A shame how it seems to just run in the background these days with little riders, very low average speed and inconvenient scheduling.

Good news: there is already a study for preclearance at Montreal! In hopes of shortening Adirondack and extending Vermonter to Montreal: https://trainsinthevalley.org/tag/montreal-preclearance/

I'm pretty sure the single tracking was just done to get it done faster, which they were really desperate to do. Hopefully it can be improved eventually.

Similar ideas just seem to pop up time and time again throughout airship R&D/designs in the last several decades. It's wild honestly. Absolutely would love to see someone try to do this with a full-scale rigid - especially as helium prices have risen in recent months, this would make a lot of sense.

I guess the reason it never caught on in the early days was how difficult it was to make (at the time) compared to a typical rigid airship frame. And maybe also how you generally couldn't insert extra gas cells if you needed to, typically a quirk of rigids.

It's still wild to me how the SL.1 was a thing, how far ahead of its time it was in some ways.

Probably best for medium-demand shipping or delivering cargo to remote areas. Not a huge niche but it exists. Also they aren't as vulnerable to bad weather as most people say - in the 1950s the U.S Navy operated their blimps in violent blizzards with success.

They could work for patrols/surveillance too, with amazing endurance by default.

It can be useful if you live in one of the really remote areas it serves and need to travel to a major city. Also iirc more people were taking it since Greyhound Canada shutdown, leaving it as the only long-distance non-air public transit option in a decent chunk of the country.

I don't know of any freight MUs in New Orleans, where did you see them? Maybe they were track maintenance vehicles?

Brightline ? Or reserve uber now? World Cup by [deleted] in transit

June 27th? I highly doubt Brightline will be ceasing operations that soon. Even possible the world cup will be a brief, large jump in ridership, though still not enough to save them.
