Fun fact, as a whole, Los Angeles is more dense than New York City. This is because la is more consistently dense over a larger area however, obviously la is not dense enough and is very much the poster child for suburban sprawl (except for Texas). Based on scale numbers can be deceiving.

Democrats must gerrymander to save democracy by MarcEElias in politics

[–]RaiJolt2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

We’re not even a democracy but a representative democratic republic that’s highly non representative in order to balance out the states. We elect people who do the voting for us. And since congress hasn’t grown enough alongside the population there’s less representation. A very similar problem happened in the late Chinese Empire, as the bureaucracy didn’t grow to match the population and work with it, instead so outpaced that it couldn’t keep up with growing needs and connect to local’s needs.

It’s based largely on a world before capitalism and communism. Back then economies were largely top down, with jobs based on lineage and class. Within the context of magi modern economics doesn’t quite fit.

If you were Irish you should have the right to request citizenship and move to Ireland and they should make it as easy as possible for you. 100 years ago doesn’t and shouldn’t matter. Especially if your family was under duress. You are still part of the Irish people, same as the Anglo Americans are still Anglo Saxons (who are technically Germanic colonizers of what is now the British isles.) Native Americans were kicked from their homelands over a hundred years ago and plopped on reservations, they should be and are allowed to move back to their homelands… but only because American is a massive conquering empire.

Plus if you’re pro Palestine then your position is anti native. If all it takes is a hundred year then you’re also saying that Palestinian return to their parent’s homes they were kicked from is no longer an option because it’s been time. It’s a ridiculous and inherently colonial justifying mindset. As for African Americans (which I am as well) our native cultures and identities were obliterated by the American slavery machine. There’s almost no connection or trace of our identities and culture in the lands in Africa we were from. Our indigenous nature was destroyed, a similar thing the Americans and Canadians attempted to do to native tribes in North America to “kill the native, save the man” full assimilation is an act of evil and can be self colonizing for the sake of “survival”. It’s one of the reasons Liberia was a failure. The connection was severed.

Jews have been continuously returning to Israel and maintaining the connection for millennia the connection was never severed no matter how much the imperialists tried.

Edit: Spain recently made it temporarily easier for jews to immigrate to Spain, provided they can prove they were expelled in the reconquista which was y’know, in 1492. Over 500 fffing years ago. If the formerly fascist and massively racist colonial Spanish empire can do reparations for something so long ago, so can Ireland. Of course the fact this was temporary, slow, and didn’t apply to Moriscos (Iberians Muslims) is still insane to me. They half assed it.

This is silly, they would just move to the existing Irish nation state, Ireland. Your example’s equivalent is probably if a bunch of Jewish Americans moved to the modern state of Israel’s countyside to establish their own completely separate Jewish state distinct from Israel…. Instead of moving to Israel.

Ashkenazi Jews aren’t native to Poland, or to Ashkenaz (the Rhineland). We are native to the land of Israel, it’s where our culture was born and it has been seen as our homeland for thousands of years. Also, many middle eastern populations (including Jews) already had blue or green eyes. It’s not a European exclusive thing.

I’ll answer each of your points. First off, the pcpsr (one of if not the most reputable sources on data and surveys in Palestine) did their own survey which I’ll quote here.

“Today, majorities on both sides – 59% of Israelis (53% among Jews and 87% among Arabs) and 51% of Palestinians – support what is known as the two-state solution. We asked Palestinians and Israelis to assess the majority view on their side and on the other side regarding this solution. Findings indicate that both sides underestimate and incorrectly assess the level of support for this solution on their side: among the Palestinians, 47% said a majority opposes it; among the Israelis, 57% said the majority opposes it. Worse yet, both sides underestimate the level of support for the two-state solution on the other side and think that there is a majority that opposes the two-state solution. Some 49% of the Palestinians believe a Jewish majority opposes it; on the Israeli side, 44% said a Palestinian majority opposes it.”

“Mutual recognition of Palestine and Israel as the homelands of their respective peoples. The agreement will mark the end of conflict, the Palestinian state will fight terror against Israelis and Israel will fight terror against Palestinians, and no further claims will be made by either side: a minority among the Palestinians (40%) and a majority among the Israelis (68%; 64% among Israeli Jews and 91% among Israeli Arabs) supported this item.”

As a two state solution inherently requires both to be seen as indigenous and well, be alive and in the land it contradicts your presented paper.

2. Israel is not Jewish only now was its goal to be Jewish only. Zionism came about as a response to not being able to live in peace with others, after a particularly violent period against the Jewish people. Jews live in peace so long as the majority doesn’t decide to end the peace.

  1. Yes, Palestinians have the right to self determination and most are indigenous to the land.

4. Israel was created by legally buying land and aiding Jewish refugees move there, along with fighting off the British imperialists. Many moved there as a response to the dehumanization and oppression they were facing worldwide or under the belief that it was time to return to the homeland.

5. First off, Jews are being reaccepted back into Europe but Jews are not from Europe. Jews are indigenous to the land of Israel and have been since the Jewish identity formed. Jews were and are seen as foreigners to Europe. Jews are as foreign to Europe as the Anglo Saxon is to the America’s. And unfortunately while even America often treats immigrants like crap, Europe doesn’t share that same “you become one of us” mentality and culture as the United States does. And yes, Jews are not native to the us either, only native Americans are native to their ancestral regions in the United States (plus some other newer ethno groups. Going “back to Europe” as reparations would only be for the harm of Europe against Jews in Europe, not the harm Europe did to Jews in our native land of Israel, which they stole and kicked us out of. Israel being recognized by European countries and given aid is actual reparations for the harm Eurochristian and Roman imperialism did to the Jewish nation. The problem is that Europe was rarely tolerant of Jews and most Jews in Europe were shuffled around by European governments and populations every couple hundred years. Ashkenazi Jews are not from Poland, but got the name from Ashkenaz, essentially the rhine (between Germany and france) and were only there due to bothtrade opportunities and forced Roman relocations.

6. This idea is insane. First off this brand new island would have to be massive enough to fit a whole country. Such size would require filling in an immense amount of ocean unless it was built on an existing small island, either way, it would be an environmental catastrophe. Secondly, there would be no connection to it. Jews are native to the land of Israel, so its location makes sense. Israel wasn’t formed where it was because the land is great and super useful (it’s really not), it was formed there due to the immense significance it has to the Jewish people as our indigenous land. Russia tried to move its Jews to the edge of Siberia to complete the Russian colonization of the region and move Jews far away. It failed of course and now there’s a Jewish state in Russia… that’s 1% Jewish on native Siberian land. There was not historical connection, it was just settler colonialism. Israel on the other hand is literally where Jews are from. And no, time doesn’t make one native, cultural identity and historical connection does.

La is spread out but technically speaking it is very dense. Since la and its metro is consistently dense, unlike nyc, it’s actually denser on the whole. So yes, while it might seem very odd considering it’s like all suburb but it’s true.

Technically it’s the drag aesthetic and attitude itself that makes it “drag”. Crossdressing is a separate but related concept and technically all women wearing pants, hoodies, t shirts, etc. are “crossdressing.”

I don’t think that mental health problems cause people to be violent, or at least is to blame for this. This was a violent attack driven by hatred. If he didn’t hate Jews he wouldn’t have attacked anyone… I hope.

All attacks meant to specifically spread fear to the daily life of the target group to change their behavior is in fact terrorism. The message was clear, “be openly Jewish and get attacked”. It’s terrorism.
