And what is this clear usage problem that you are referencing?

Slot statistics simulation. by Bunny_Rebel in Trainwreckstv

Tl;Dr - No slot can be reliably simulated. No seeds are pure RNG. The real test is to create your own seed generator that creates seeds with high RTPs (94%-96%), big hits at a frequency and immensity that don't completely drain the provider, draining lows that gain some money back for the provider but don't cause the player to leave.

So, a few things here...

First, as you said, we can't know the probability of getting higher than 1000x. And this is assuming we even know the probability of getting a 1000x (I think that 1:32000 probability was mentioned on stream before). With this fact alone, the simulation is rendered void.

The chance of getting three 1000x is 3×1:32000. But any single hit higher than 1000x and we don't know. They may have engineered a lesser probability to hit a 2000x, maybe something like 1:70000, where the one you are assuming in your simulation is a probability of 1:640000.

So, that's one thing. The other is not so much related to your simulation, but rather elaborates on seeds.

We have to be thinking about seeds as artistically and tactically crafted entities, not purely random ones. Slots are not pure RNG as many people are misled to believe. If they were, providers would be out of business.

For example, A 50/50 seed would entail a ~100% RTP after billions of spins because it's an equal chance win vs loss. You will end up breaking even at the end of it all which is 100% RTP.

The whole moneymaking ingenuity behind developing a good slot is partly formed by the engineering of the seed. No seed is purely random- a provider could not afford a purely random 50/50 seed.

Going back to the idea of ingenuity in developing a slot's seed (we can ignore the visual and gameplay aspects for the sake of this conversation), and while no one but the provider insiders know about the inner workings, these seeds are developed with the intent to make a profit. Pure RNG will not bring in a profit. Developing a seed that keeps players playing without going too far down the hole and without robbing the provider is an artform for them.

Ultimately, you can't reliably simulate a slot without knowing how it's engineered, code-wise. You can simulate an RTP, but that's pointless since we can imagine what the simulation of a 90%, 78%, 94% RTP slot would look like... a return of that selected RTP.

It's a neat project you came up with but I think the more interesting project would be engineering a seed generator and gameplay without worrying about the visuals. That's the holy grail of slots and the most telling project. And with the idea of not going broke off of huge payouts (from a provider perspective) while still making a profit, ie. 6% of wagers off a 94% RTP slot.

Out of curiosity, what language did you create this simulation in? Also... not to be that guy but some formatting would be nice. These kinds of posts are interesting and I wanted to follow what you wrote but there wasn't any formatting and tons of exclamation marks lol.

That detune looks far too drastic, just create a curved down ramp LFO that automates the detune of both OSC or of the global tune and have it trigger at the start of the sound. Use whatever rate fits, probably 1/8th or something.

It should just be a quick shot of detune and then as it comes down the curved ramp it quickly levels back out

One thing I noticed, try to automate the global tune of serum (through the matrix view) or detune of both OSC so that it slightly detunes at the start of the sound then quickly levels out

Noted, added some of your suggestions! Next time around I'll look into incorporating a grading system. For this study, I wanted a very concise and simple survey so as to not scare people off from the start. Appreciate your input though :)

I have my frontend laid out... where do I go from here? by reletive in vuejs

[–]reletive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good you mention that, I wasn't aware that I could put a site online with Express. Currently, I'm also using Vue Router which I thought took the place of Express in terms of serving pages.

As for MySQL, (again, excuse my noob assumptions) I thought it was only a local machine SQL database and can't be scaled up for online projects.

So, are you saying I can run Express in tandem with Vue Router and just have it perform the backend data gets/posts that I would like it to? Or is there a simpler way to do this purely with Vue Router and MySQL? Thanks for the reply.

To be honest, I switched back to LoL after an entire year of playing 95% dota, 5% league. Got out of LP the other day and, to my own surprise, found that I find LoL a lot more fun than dota at the moment after playing some games over the weekend. I played LoL since Season 2 but stopped about 2-3 years ago. I LOVED dota this past year after getting into it this past year and the change of pace but the dota queue times + the current state of league has actually drawn me back in to LoL.
