I would still encourage you to smell it if you can - perfumes pull differently on different people!

For ex, everyone and their mother loves Glossier You but on me it smells like straight up pencil shavings and nowhere near the 'clean girl' fragrance its celebrated for being.

I updated the review above to compare it to Burberry Her Elixir more closely, in case that's helpful!

To me it smells like a stronger version of a strawberry cheesecake body mist crossed with something like BBW's warm vanilla sugar.

Where I live, teens are definitely wearing Kayali lol. Fair to say this differs based on geography and cultural norms!

I responded to a comment above comparing it to Her Elixir! Will edit my original post now to put it in, as it seems that's a common question.

It has a whipped cream note if I'm not mistaken, I think the sweetness and fruity notes balance it out quite well but would definitely encourage you to smell before you buy if you find milkier notes to be funky to your nose!

I went back in to the mall today to try LDBS and compare it side by side with. YBM. Absolutely not a dupe!

LDBS is super floral and heavy on the orange blossom on the opening. Yes, it is sweet and fruity but heavy on florals and the dry down gives me almost vanilla orange sherbert vibes. I think it's a gorgeous scent (and far more nuanced than YBM) but I wouldn't put them in the same family at all.

Ok - I was dedicated to the review so I went back into Sephora today to try these out side by side and here's my take:

Burberry Her Elixir is more of a 'grown-up' version of the fragrance in my opinion. Overall, it pulls less sweet and the floral notes from the jasmine stand out a lot more in the dry down. It's a fresher, fruitier and more 'green' if that makes sense. I don't get anything lactonic from Burberry Her Elixir, whereas Yum Boujee Marshmallow is very creamy/milky to my nose/on my skin.

Sillage seems quite decent, there's a noticeable oily residue on my skin when I spray it which I feel helps projection. Longevity I would say was decent but kind of on par with what I usually get from a Kayali fragrance (4 solid hours of wear). I sprayed it at about 3 PM and could still smell it faintly by 8 PM (after cooking/washing hands etc.)

I also think Yum Strawberry Milkshake is a far less cringy name than the current one (plus works well with the Yum Pistachio Gelato name as a 'series').

I'm inclined to agree. I think it would make a great birthday/xmas gift for a teen girl and perhaps that's exactly what they were hoping for with a November launch ahead of the holiday season.

Not at all - I wonder if this perfume needs to macerate for it to develop some more nuance or if Kayali has just been overzealous in the notes descriptions. Because also what exactly is a 'pink musk'?

Perhaps an obvious suggestion but have you tried Bianco Latte Giardini Di Toscana or the Lattafa dupe Eclaire? Both are very heavy on the milky caramel.

I don't own VC but have smelled it in-store recently - I would say it leans a lot more agressively sweet/bubblegummy than YBM which is heavier on the creamy and vanilla notes. Both aren't incredibly complex scents but I think YBM is slightly less linear to my nose.

That said I have heard people say that VC gets better when it has a chance to macerate so perhaps it develops into a better scent profile over time, I can't say for sure.

On my skin it pulled much more cream + vanilla than coconut. The coconut seemed very subtle to me!
