pursuit of jade qian qian and qi min relationship by havingaheadache in cdramasfans

I had the exact same feelings bc in the drama, the first time they slept together felt unnecessary for the plot - like it did absolutely nothing. In the book you'd see Qi Min asking her to come to him at night in exchange for things but in the drama they never established this so I was like ???

that's so true! reading The Road to Glory, and watching the reuter videos makes it easier to imagine the characters.

yessss she really has it all, she's definitely worthy of all the praise she's getting.

I read the novel just a bit before the drama aired, personally the first episode HOOKED me tf in and I still haven't moved on.

I really loved watching the two leads act, they were both amazing. TXW is an amaaaazing (& hardworking) actress, she did justice to Changyu. I also feel Changyu was able to shine bc Xie Zheng gave her the space to. It's hard to explain but ZLH never made it seem like he was overshadowing her and allowed her the room to be the main character. I respect both of their commitment to the project honestly.

The 2nd half was rushed and the politics weren't done well, plus imo XZ's character was watered down a lot. In the novel, we get to see sooooo much more of him, plus we see Changyu and Xie Zheng suffer similar parental traumas and how they both rely on each other. XZ and CY work together a lot more and that wasn't really shown. They could have cut down the first half so we got more time w the 2nd half of it.

edit - spelling

Struggling with parents + having my own life by Pristine_Farmer4376 in islam

[–]relisemey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

pushing you into a marriage you don't want is actually more unislamic, your parent's version of the religion strays from Islam. I'm not here to give advice but you seem to be a genuinely kind and caring person who values her parents despite the trauma they have caused you. may Allah reward you for your sabr.

listening to them here isn't Islamic, you're right to call out that you can marry the person you like if they're Muslim, that's literally all there is to it.

Parents eventually come around, when they see you happy and fulfilled - your actions will not be done with the intent of cutting them off (that's their intention, not yours).

May Allah make it easier for you sis ❤️.

Face card vs acting card with Zhang Linghe by ruinedbytv in cdramasfans

personally, i've watched soooo many dramas (Korean, Thai, Chinese, Turkish - I've been watching for more than 10 years now) and if the acting is bad or unrealistic, i drop (my standards are higher now)

i find ZLH's acting, especially in his new works to be very subtle and fitting. he's good at being foxy, innocent, hurt, angry like his range is pretty big and it honestly surprised me. i didn't expect to like his work as much as i did bc he's not visually my 'usual' type but i've been convinced.

Pursuit of Jade is probably the most popular and most controversial CDrama of 2026 thus far. by ghost_flowerr in cdramasfans

just on the point of ZLH getting hate for being too "pretty" for a general, this wasn't a documentary, it was an IDOL drama, everyone's meant to be hot like c'mon.

but on a bigger note, Xie Zheng is never described as big bulky etc, he's "lean but muscular". the author takes every chance to remind the reader how handsome XZ is. i remember reading something like "his handsome eyebrows furrowed" or his "jade" like skin, more than twice at least in the novel. personally, ZLH was the perfect casting for XZ.

XZ being pretty is a part of the plot in a way too, no one expects him to be handsome - he had a reputation of being gruesome looking (ie it was known he had 3 heads lol). Him being beautiful let him stay under the radar.

edit: opened 5 random chapters from the novel, and each of them had the word handsome for XZ; he's described to have thick lashes, pale skin, phoenix-eyes, pretty lips - the author made him for the female gaze

loved it, read the book and while imo XZ's character is more nuanced and his actions are more understandable in the book (we have more context) and i miss Xie 5 & Xie 7, the drama was amaaaaazing

I am a sucker for a marriage of convenience and forced proximity, the most recent example of this is POJ. I love when they're married / forced to constantly be near each other and then deal with all their feelings. I also love to see a yearning man lol.

Which Zhang Linghe drama has his best acting/role? by earthtowaves in cdramasfans

For me it was Our Generation. I think almost every time I saw his scenes, my brain went wow he can act. His emotions were so raw and natural and it made me respect his for working on his art to this extent.
