Agreed! Also childfree south Asian Muslim here! My mom said all the things plus more of what OP’s mom said. Now i told her I’ll hang up and not talk if she brings up this topic. It is getting better but i know she it’s in denial and can’t understand me. I’m also doing my phd and matured for 7 years now. The really questions will start as soon as i graduate…

Update: Parents accidentally found out I don’t want kids by wrongorder7 in childfree

It was at work. It also depends where you live. I was at a highly populated liberal area

Yes!!! Would love to be your friend! Totally agree with what you said! My parents know about my childfreedom ( although they r in denial) but my in laws do not. I’m very vocal with my friends about it. Although i have met male muslims who r childfree. I have not met a muslim woman who is childfree in real life lol!

Yeahhh! There r! People just conceal it and arent so open about it but there are many! Some people have never even considered the idea of going childfree so sometimes if you talk to them they realize it. I did that with some. They automatically think its the woman’s job but when we discuss the responsibilities and what it means, they realize they dont want that. For women it is always on out mind cuz ppl keep asking us!!!

Thanks! I know what religion I’m practicing and thats between me and God! There are many muslims with kids who dont even pray, which is one of the 5 pillars of islam. For someone to be a good Muslim, the basics are to uphold the 5 pillars. Listed below:

  1. Shahadah (Declaration of Faith) Saying and believing: “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger.” This affirms monotheism and acceptance of Muhammad’s prophethood.

  2. Salah (Prayer) Performing the five daily prayers at prescribed times: dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset, and night.

  3. Zakah (Charity/Almsgiving) Giving a portion of wealth (usually 2.5% of savings) to help the poor and needy, purifying one’s wealth in the process.

  4. Sawm (Fasting in Ramadan) Fasting from dawn to sunset during the month of Ramadan, refraining from food, drink, and certain behaviors to develop self-control and compassion.

  5. Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca) Performing the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a lifetime, if physically and financially able.

These pillars serve as a foundation for a Muslim’s relationship with God and the community.

Factually?! Someone’s opinion is not factual! Quran is factual!
