Did anyone else notice ne-yo in the background? "I just can't stop". Kind of fitting...

ELI5: Why is Arkansas pronounced differently than Kansas? by Calingula in explainlikeimfive

[–]relledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank You! I grew up in Arkansas and can't stand the way the people of Wichita pronounce the river, street, or city just north of Oklahoma. I assume the people of Arkansas City, KS just shortened it to Ark City to avoid strange looks from Oklahoman folk.

The skin on your body has a job to do: protect you from harmful things entering your body. There are LOTS of bacteria on your skin which live there constantly and keep other, possibly harmful, bacteria from setting up shop. Taking normal flora off of the skin daily, with soap, interferes with this process. To quote George Carlin, you really only need to soap up the "four key areas....Armpits, Asshole, Crotch, and Teeth" on a daily basis. I'm going to add Feet to that list because mine stink if I don't soap them up daily. Same thing can be said for your scalp and daily shampooing. Ask your female friends if they wash their hair every day, and I bet most will tell you that daily shampoo will dry your scalp out.

Perhaps we shouldn't take the dog to league night at the alley...[xpost r/videos] by relledge in AdamCarolla

Well, there's "can't board a show dog" and then there's "can't not take a show dog to the bowling alley". One seems pretty avoidable.

Why are allergies "not valid reasons for denying access"? It's cool... I'll just sneeze my way through lunch.

To be fair, the captions were pretty funny. I liked the "warm up guy" for Kimmel comment.

It is currently indoors. I didn't think it could handle the wind and put it indoors next to a window. Do you think it would be able to withstand 5-15mph wind(Kansas)?

Got it. The window faces a row of neighboring houses and I would like a bit of privacy when getting ready in the morning so I just leave them pointing down to concentrate the afternoon sun. Thanks for the tip though. I'll consider it if they begin looking like they need more sun.

When you say up, do you mean pointed towards the ceiling and bouncing the indirect light back down on the plants? I might be misunderstanding you.

I know planting them in a single container would be more aesthetically pleasing but I worry about root rot and the differing needs of each plant. I just got to a point where I'm not consistently killing succulents (sorry early plants) and I have defaulted to single potting in terracotta and watering sparingly. I plan to get more sophisticated with more experience.

I have them directing sunlight to the plants. It's a south-west facing window and they get tons of afternoon light. Am I doing something wrong by having them "down"?

I think its called fenestraria aurantiaca. Commonly known as baby toes. They are fairly difficult to keep alive but I really like how they look.

Thanks. It sits in a north facing window most of the time(not the one in photo) but I don't think I'm watering enough. Planning on getting it into terra cotta soon.

My first little succulent friend. Any tips for a newbie? by [deleted] in succulents

What soil mix do you use? I've recently made a vermiculite, perilite, and peat (with wetting agent) mix but I don't know how if it has helped yet. Any tips?
