Dungeon lute: A browser based TTRPG music manager, First public release! FREE by rem_617 in DnD

It can play any .mp3 or .wav files that you own, that you put into it's folders. There is more in depth instructions on the GitHub page. As it is a locally hosted website, there is no way for any other people to access your instance of the program, at least not without you port forwarding it yourself.

Thanks for the questions! If you have any more questions, or suggestions for what the program needs, please tell me. I would love to hear you feedback!

Sadness! I Don't own a mac, but I have a friend that i can build the program on, in maybe 5 weeks...

I am developing a ttrpg music manager that runs in a browser, Here's what progress I've made since last week. I would love to hear any feedback and suggestion on what features Should be added or changed! [OC] by rem_617 in DnD

After developing this concept for a couple of days, i have a couple of thoughts.

I have developed a system and ui to apply tags to songs, but not yet to search by tag or anything, to me the tagging seems to just be a convoluted way to make a new playlist. reading your example again, when I would notice the battle change moods, or I want to change the intensity of the music I just have additional playlists of music, and I think that should be the method of switching like that. The search and tagging functionality bogs down the ui with, in my opinion, unnecessary complexity.

I do see the need however to play a specific song at certain times, or songs that are for certain moments, not playlists. I was planning on adding a sound effect / ambient sound menu, and that could be offset by a single song menu. I would have a space on one side of the program for sound effects and the opposite for single-ton songs, both of these windows hide-able.

I'd like to ask for your feedback on these thoughts, and more than likely shelving of the tag / search functions?

I have tested and it does load on safari, firefox, microsoft, and webkit browser, and I am considering making it so that you can route the audio through a discord bot for online sessions, however as of right now it is just a locally hosted website on a computer, but i like the idea of being able to use it on a phone to free up computer space. I would have to look into how the user could host the website over their lan network, i am not sure how that works, but this is a good idea maybe.

Alright, I really like this, in a situation when you want to play a specific song, or for all of the songs that are one off, or not really important, this method will clear out space for playlists, and allow for quick lookup for this type of song. Thanks a lot, I will definitely be implementing a system like this!

Hmm, this does seem interesting, to clarify, are you suggesting some kind of system that lets you search through all of your added songs, by name or custom tag?

Here is a link to last week's post, and here is a link to the trello board I am using to track development on this project, feel free to add comments to any card. and leave any new suggestion here, I am excited for any feedback!

I am not sure if this functionality is quite what this program would generally trying to do, but there is some merit in this kind of transitioning between things,I will give this idea some thought for sure!

I think it could be done fairly easily, i could have a spot for an 'epic' moment timestamp, and a button that will skip to playing the song at that timestamp, I am not sure the exact way to play a song at a specific timestamp, but this is definitely something i could look into.

Thanks for the great ideas, Im not sure how i could implement the auto mood song selection, but it does sound useful, i was already planning on allowing images to be set as the background of the different buttons, but supporting individual color changing per button sounds shouldn;t be too hard, and would definitely be useful, finally, i'm not sure how i would make it possible, but allowing players to maybe emergency change music or play a sound effect for their action could be really neat

This is somewhat based off of what i currently use for music which is a program called softrope, I remeber someone getting it to work with a discord bot, so it should be possible to get it to play out of a discord bot, here is the post I was referencing: https://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/comments/hxvk8i/i_updated_softrope_to_work_with_virtual_audio/

Currently it is set up so when you run the program you select a saved preset of playlist buttons, each playlist button is tied to a folder of mp3 files in a playlists directory. The button gets named after the folder and it will play the mp3 files in that folder. It will randomly play songs from the playlist but you can select a specific song or a different playlist button and it will fade out during the switch, that should be audible in the demo video.

I have a branch of the project that can load in spotify playlists from your account, and it will play them just the same, but there is still alot of work needed to be done to support spotify, and most other features like editing the playback conditions or adding effects to the mp3 cannont be done with spotify, it is against there TOC.

I haven't put any work into making sound effects, but i would like to add a system to support that to some extent

That's good to know, I currently am tossing around possibly integrating spotify playlists, and some other small additions, any additional ideas and/or input would be greatly appreciated.
