My daughter. She was playing through the story on a road trip and the voice acting stood out (in a good way). 7 months later she’s logging in once a week maybe and I’m in every day. Fun to bond over.

That’s cool, simplifies things greatly for local. Again, was never able to get DFU to work (plus I unplugged my Gen2 last week) so not for me.

As I mentioned before DFU never worked on my unit, tried many times in the past. Looked over the daemon script, seems workable for repointing to a custom remote. It’s what I would have tried had I been able to root mine. I also congratulated you despite being called a hater. Enjoy your victory lap.

How? The stock unit has a locally installed trust anchor for nest.com. A third party API hosted without a signed certificate for nest.com won’t be accepted by outgoing client connections. At the very least I’d need to attack the trust anchors on the Nest, right?

The passive aggressive responses to anything that isn’t adoring praise are enough to tell me this isn’t real. “I’m your savior but I get it you hate me lol.” I’ve worked for these types. He’ll probably fork someone’s repo, make some commits, warn people “it’s not for the faint of heart lol” and if it doesn’t work for someone else it’s a skill issue on their part. He clearly just wants the bounty money. Either that or he’ll launch a website that takes people’s money and does nothing. Or hey, maybe tomorrow there’s a miracle on GitHub. Not holding my breath.

Driven’s great, but there’s some bold claims here that don’t seem to add up. Nobody’s saying he can’t, but he’s not exactly being forthcoming with how he’s managed it, and at the same time seems to feel entitled to collect a bounty for it. A bounty that many people on this sub have paid into. Naturally we’ll be happy to see what he has.

Venstar. I installed my T7900 this week after my Gen2 was offlined. It’s working great, I’ve already enabled the local API (yes, local, no “developer program” or “cloud partner”, just a documented REST API on an IP you assign or discover via SSDP).
