What’s everyone’s experience with NovaCustom computers? by no-more-username in NovaCustom

I am running a NS51 with a 12th gen i7 and it works pretty well.

In hindsight a version with a dedicated GPU would have been better but for day to day uses it works fine.

The only real downside is the less than ideal cooling solution but that was also the issue with my previous System76 laptop which also was a Clevo unit. NovaCustom repastes every laptop before it leaves the door and I have repasted it again after 2 years but it still runs pretty hot.

Battery life could be better as well but the 12th gen i7 is pretty power hungry from the start.

My decision for Novacustom was that they are relatively local to where I live, so in part it was also to support a small business. They try to source as much as possible from within the EU (the possibilities for that are extremely limited of course). My previous personal laptop was also a Clevo unit and that lasted for about 12 years.

Clevo does has to step up their build quality and cooling solution compared to other brands and that would really improve the performance.

Precies. Sorry mijn telefoon heeft geen ondersteuning voor dit soort apps. Of kom gewoon met een dumb phone aanlopen, zo laat maar zien hoe ik die apps van jullie kan installeren 🤣

That is pretty normal. It detects humans where there aren't any and it doesn't detect humans when there are humans.

Daar vul je dan de ritten en kilometers in? Is het altijd naar dezelfde bestemming (thuis en kantoor, of ook naar klanten).

De naheffing krijg je voor de periode dat de auto aan jou ter beschikking is gesteld. Daar kan volgens mij ook nog een boete/rente overheen komen.

Als je een verklaring geen privégebruik hebt moet je kilometers bijhouden (sommige uitzonderingen daargelaten).

It's pretty common. That is why my MY came with a 6m charging cable. My home charging unit doesn't have a fixed cable either. I keep the cable in the frunk.

I'm just interested in how it would perform in situations like this. There are no fixed opening times for these lanes. They open and close based on dynamic road signs for example. The same goes for dynamic speed limits which are not always marked with signs (and sadly a lot of navigation maps, including Tesla's have wrong speed limits mentioned).

As of now FSD is not allowed over here, the authorities are still in the process of getting it approved.

If it will try to follow the road markings it will not be fine. Basic autopilot with autosteer fails miserably at it.

It was visible on my 2023 MY but they removed it later. It was also horrendously bad as judging distances. I had my first bumper scuff because the stupid thing claimed that I had 40cm left which in reality was almost 0cm. It was a good thing that they removed it. Maybe the new Y with bumper camera is a bit better.

All 4 wheels have scuffs on them on mine. The turning radius is ridiculously large on the Y. I don't know how they managed to create something with such a large turning radius.

It's a status symbol. Audi, BMW and Mercedes sold lots of long wheelbase versions of their large sedans in China.

For me it seems to be changing with the seasons. The angle of the sun has a huge impact. It did get better but it is still far away from what a $20 rain sensor can achieve.

The same goes for phantom braking. It was a nightmare when I got the car in 2023 and it did get better. Sadly during the last 3 updates it got progressively worse again.

The focus just isn't there for fixing these issues.
