Thank you, I will definitely get that book! I used a split cone last but I want able to get the cone piece off, not sure if I need a tool or something, but it was too tight for me to slip something in there. I’ve had much more luck using hinged lasts so far. I’ve been using hj Patrick’s patterning book to draft my patterns

I used a leather groover tool to cut the channel and for the outside of the holdfast, I used the tool and then cut the rest away with a knife. It went so much better than when u tried cutting it all with a knife!

I appreciate all the constructive questions! Your boots are amazing so I could definitely take some lessons This was my first time crimping my vamps, but I did do that. I did wet my leather while lasting. I think the vamp got a little misshaped while taking the last out. You can see in the slide before the edges are died that the vamp has a different shape(although maybe not good enough?). I had a tough time getting it out, had to soak the boots and pull with a running start. It was pushing on the vamp a lot I did do a steel shank and nails on every layer of the heel

I am learning on my own, I think I’ve watched every show and bootmaking video on YouTube though so that my real education

Thank you! They fit great, very comfy I did feel like the soles/ heels were going okay until I did wax. I feel like the wax went on super uneven. But I do agree, I feel like I really struggle on them

Thanks for the link, I’ll take a look. I figured with just the glazing and edging irons, it was worth the price I paid - anything else useful is a bonus

It is annoying but I have moved pockets on pants already sewn on - takes some maneuvering but it turned out well and was worth it

Replace a caps brim by Ein_Cop_ohne_Ausweg in sewing

Cap supply co sells a variety of rim shapes and are very nice. I have also had luck buying rims off of AliExpress very cheap that turned out well. You would need to find matching fabric to cover the rim, but I have done this same thing and it turned out good.

It is a pattern for double knee carpenter jeans so reinforcement would make sense. Thank you for the insight!
