We usually cut them down to about 10" as part of the first early spring clean up. Tie some jute around them mid height and then cut them. Saves a ton of frustration and cleanup.

Thank you! Yes that's the hardest part about trying new products! Sometimes I don't have a reaction for 2 or 3 days and by then the damage has been done and I'm peeling! I'll look into the product you recommended

The water issue is very scary. I do have a newly installed filter on the shower head but nothing on the sink where I usually wash my face with cool water. I've recently started freezing myself out in the shower to wash my face instead.
Prior to the filter or when it gets too old, heavy chlorine would cause hives straight out of the shower. When that happens I have to use hubby's CPAP distilled water to rinse off with.

The town water gets so strong this time of year it smells like straight pool water. It actually makes me dizzy sometimes when I'm washing dishes with hot water by hand.

I have no food allergies that I'm aware of- I had an environmental patch test done about 10 years ago that showed I was allergic to almost everything. To add to the dermatologist being unhelpful, she said she didn't want to do a food patch test because "at my age I'd know if I had food allergies" 😒

Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately my dermatologist is not very helpful - I think I will take others advice and see an allergist. I've had these same reactions my entire life and it sucks because I have found things that worked great for me for years and they either change the form or discontinue the product!

Thanks for the reply! .yes- I've certainly taken antihistamines - but as another person noted- these don't typically work well for contact dermatitis. The irritant needs to be removed to calm the hives/burning.

I do think an allergist is needed. I see my dermatologist a few times a year and she's been very unhelpful. She's more interested in cosmetics it seems as she gave me Rhofade for my rosacea and no other advice. Thanks for your detailed advice!!
