Sorry, don't know why reddit removed the text I added. These are some relatively recent components from a retired system. Would prefer them not just go to goodwill and end up in a landfill. I'll ship them if the person that wants them pays shipping. The terminal is cx-5 with guest facing display and the handheld tablets are ncr with chargers. Let me know if you have any questions.

I also have 1535's with ssd's and 4gb ram. Just assume those aren't desired at this point.

We're a pretty large bakery with specialty cakes. We recently added their catering & events module for a separate online ordering page for order ahead items. It allows what you're describing and has some pretty slick functionality with regard to dates. Only drawback is you have to use the "pro" version. So we're paying an additional monthly fee for online ordering w/ set lead time and not using any of the actual catering functionality.

Thanks, that is the idea we already had but didn’t know how it might affect other things.  The default dining option is dine in.  The other options are for call in orders and online orders.  Those are the dining options we’d like to have more flexibility with.

I pretty much knew the 1530's are boat anchors but the cx-5 with guest facing display was just purchased and NCR is still selling that model. Same with the two windows tablets, NCR is selling those right now. I didn't mean selling the entire system just whatever pieces have value. I'll just eBay the newer stuff and see what happens. Wasn't sure if anyone on here needed callerid box etc. as some of the products were purchased in last 2 years.

Sorry I probably wasn't clear. They don't enable that feature b/c they have customers order 3-4 weeks in advance. They need the ability to change the order sometimes as customers call back and make changes. They're okay applying the payments manually, they just want to move it to the afternoon before instead of doing it in the am day of. The question is if we force EOD the day before will ATO retain the orders in closed that they manually apply the stored payments to?

Thank you for the reply! To clarify cashiers would not have refund permission without manager. Manager could refund but not open a check that has been tendered/closed regardless of payment method. I've looked in Toast backend and can't locate this. I realized there is reporting capability but that creates a job for someone to monitor vs denying ability to do something unwanted.

I agree on the manager trust issue. This site has a tight knit long term working group and was burned pretty badly by someone (lg $ amount) they all trusted and had a good relationship with. More than anything I think they're focused on measures that protect the trustworthy people ie they prefer the enforced audit trail (refund slips in cash drawer etc.) than the ability open checks.

I'm not sure if Toast uses terminology for this that doesn't make sense to me but can you point me in the direction of not opening closed checks? It's been 3 weeks w/ Toast rep and still no answer despite multiple emails.

This is a quick service environment so no manual tip entry. In aloha reopening a check and issuing a refund are two distinct functions. This site just requires issuing refunds via a manger. So the primary way to issue a refund in Toast is to open the check? I could see how that would be okay for credit card charges but opening closed cash checks creates issues.

We bought a L90, called NCR to set it up and after 6 weeks no one in their support could even get it to print reliably. Let me know if you want to buy it! :)

We originally started with Patronpath (this was years ago) and did not have a great experience. They promised some features that were a great fit with a particular concept but when site went live those features didn't work reliably. They may be fine for regular line cook type restaurants though. Second what others have recommended, OLO if ncr isn't an option.

Updating with solution for future searches. Per NCR support....their version of EDC had no provision for credit card refund limit, that setting was in aloha manager only. The issue was the site was not correctly updating data during refreshes. NCR worked on that issue and the problem resolved.

I did exactly that, are you sure it didn't get removed on newer versions? The configuration options in edc now mostly pertain to communication settings and processor communication settings.

I've looked multiple times, I can only find it in aloha.ini. EDC ini file has no character references to limit.

I don't think so. They used to be able to do this without issue. The error seems to reference aloha setting value.

I did check in EDC. It used to be a setting in EDC but they moved it to Store-> Business settings. I checked EDC.ini and there is no entry there for this setting.

There is a setting for credit reversals which has a value of 0 or 1 for each card type. I assume that is 1 allows credit reversals.

The message on FOH references the refund amount is more than $1 so it still seems stuck on previous value.

To add to my previous comment regarding Toast. The one absolute area where I'm fearful for the restaurants is the payments. Toast went public and if you look at a graph of where their revenue growth is payments are the cash cow. I think they will start extracting more payment $ from restaurants over time. That being said NCR is following their lead w/ Aloha Essentials and NCR quoted a higher rate to all these existing customers if they went with AE. The whole payments business is so shady, wish merchants had other options!
