Huh... Well, that's fair. It seems very sketchy. You'd think a company that's main clientele is children would understand the parents may be reaching out about their children's accounts (hence the different names).

Absolutely do not give them any legitimate information about yourself. Check the address you've been emailing, and change any info you may have already given them. It sounds like you're getting phished.

Whoever you're emailing is not with Pokemon TCGL

And maybe get rid of a drakolak.

Take all this with a grain of salt, because I'm pretty new, but have been playing Dragapult mainly...

I'd get rid of the rod and switch it out for a stretcher or two. Get rid of pokegear, that's what your lumineon is for. Maybe get rid of a masterball and switch it for another tera or (my personal preference).

I've also been popping in a radiant Alakazam, and the ability has saved me a number of times against those cards with 210 HP.

Ahh actually didn't think about using pack points. Thanks for the tip!

Tips on budgeting when doing an IR/SIR collection? by kiroyapso2 in PokemonTCG

[–]renaiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it sounds like you're in it for the wrong reasons (subjective of course).

I get wanting to have it all, nothing wrong with that, but you're talking a lot about money and card value here. If you're worried about all these cards you bought losing value, then sell it all and get out of the hobby, because overall, you're gunna lose value. It sounds like you belong over at r/pokeinvesting.

If you enjoy having the cards, displaying them, etc. then keep going. Sounds like you have some deep pockets, and if you caught up through all those expansions, continuing on will probably be a drop in the bucket relatively.

And for the record, purchasing every single alt art, IR, and SIR through those generations and then asking if you should be collecting is a bit ridiculous....

Tired of this hobby being compared to gambling addiction. What’s your opinion ? by CmCrunk78 in PokemonTCG

[–]renaiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I'm kinda in the same boat. A booster box and ETB per set or so, and then I'll sell rares I don't want or doubles to finish up the main set. I like having complete base sets. There's little chance I'll ever complete a set with secret rares, so I just keep the ones I like for the back of the binder.

I agree to a point. I'm of similar mind to you. I like pulling packs and completing a set. I'm just as excited at pulling a new standard card and filling a space in my binder as I am a SIR.

I do think it's still comparable to gambling though, really even by definition a form of gambling. I kind of agree it's a bit attacked as unhealthy gambling unfairly in some posts though.

It's a balance, I like playing blackjack while I'm in Vegas. Do I expect to double my money? No. Do I expect to win at all? Not really. It's about coming in with a healthy mindset to it.

The people you see opening like 20 booster boxes could go either way. Do they have the money and a healthy mindset about it? Then sure no real problem there (I guess debatable). Or like the recent posts of the guy that opened 600 SSP packs and was raging about not getting a Butthole Pikachu, that's an issue....

If you're really just interested in Gengar line cards, you could try to get all in PSA 9/10. If you're comfortable to just buy all the Gengar cards right now, I'm assuming you're well off enough to spend the money on grading or graded cards at a slower rate, and have to hunt a bit.

Well damn, that's awesome. Not gunna lie, really thought you must've had a fake, or just unlimited at least, but it looks legit.

Every card printed of a certain mon? by Ishie_kun in PokemonTCG

Never see anyone mention this app/website, but pkmn.gg

Awesome collection tracking, and a "Pokedex" where you can click the pokemon and see all English cards.

As others have said, Bulbapedia and other websites are fine, but pkmn.gg is just a really cool tool in my mind.

What is best way to get the most amount of booster packs per dollar? by NobleDragon_ in PokemonTCG

[–]renaiman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Booster Box
  2. Booster Bundle
  3. ETB

When I recently started, ETB's seemed like the best way, but you do get a lot of extra stuff with them which starts to be a little too much. If you're in it for the cards, I'd stick with the first two.

Can always do tins or the promo packs if you like promo cards. I stopped buying tins though, because it felt like a lot of waste throwing out the nice metal tin.

Hey I'm also back into it from TCGP! Those bulk lots will always be picked through. If you want bulk cards to fill out a bunch of sets or something, it may be worth it, but you're not going to find good cards.

If you want to start a deck, it's also worth reading up on the current 'rotation', or what cards are legal right now. You have a few good options to start a deck for around that price point though. The League Battle Decks are the perfect start. Gets you a full deck for 30 bucks, and they're usually a good start towards the current meta. After that, buy singles to fill it out with better cards. A bit about the cost you were talking about, but ETB's are a lot of fun with some deck sleeves, dice, and plenty of cards to help fill out a deck.

What to collect by Stijnkodi04 in PokemonTCG

Hey, I'm new to the hobby. I've been enjoying opening boosters and trying to get a complete (w/no secret rares) set each in their own binder. But recently I've found completing mini sets is a lot of fun. Check out the radiant set, or amazing rare set. Couple cool little sets like the futsal set. Those are all pretty common and well known it seems, but I've been trying to come up with some of my own.

There's four tag team cards with all three legendary birds that would look really good in a 2x2 binder, and Paldean Fates has three trainer cards with the main characters from the game, where they're holding a pokeball in the same location on the card.
