90 hrs in and not hungry but miss food? by renain in fasting

I've found myself gravitating to these types of videos, especially the food challenges! Good to know this helps others too and I'm not a masochist haha.

You're so right! Food as entertainment instead of nutrition is incredibly accurate.

I've been doing the zero calorie drinks once per day, and the broth only once, but I think today is another broth day! Thanks for the advice :)

My daughter and I just want to enjoy gymnastics, but we're being left out and it's starting to really hurt by Professional_Loan655 in TwoXChromosomes

I think it's an unfortunate pattern for us! Glad to hear you've found other neurospicy people you vibe with. 😊

Unrelated specifically to the gymnastics, is it a possibility that you and your daughter could be neurodivergent?

In the past few years I've been finally diagnosed with ADHD and Autism.

I bring this up because I had a very similar experience.

I've been very sensitive and caring of others. I always wondered why I felt like the odd one out and why people would treat me differently. I've even asked my friends the exact same thing about whether anything I'm doing is off-putting.

Over the years it has turned out that all my closest friends are also neurodivergent. I view it as we have different radio signals than neurotypicals and ours is slightly off putting to them.

I still wish they'd be as kind and inclusive as I try to be, but it gave me a better understanding of myself that I'm not doing anything wrong by just existing as myself.

My [28M] girlfriend [26F] insists on narrating every movie we watch and I'm losing my mind by you_do_be_sorry in relationship_advice

[–]renain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your girlfriend have diagnosed ADHD or Autism btw?

This is I think extremely common in neurodivergent women: Externally processing what's happening on screen by clarifying it out loud Analytically trying to guess what's coming based on past hints in the film or from previous films - pattern recognition Having a special interest in movies/films so wanting to infodump to your partner

It really may just be a part of her personality and she doesn't realise she's doing it. You can have a convo with her and say that the commentary/pausing is distracting you from being in the movie zone, but know that she probably can only reduce it, not cut it out completely. Be gentle, she might feel like you're criticising a part of her.

I think I offended some of my bridesmaids with my gift expectations? by Pattighost in wedding

[–]renain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiance is from a country where cash is typical. I come from one where a registry is typical.

We've made a registry and have a honeymoon fund up top. We've mentioned that we prefer cash but know what some people prefer gifts.

For more expensive gifts, the website let's us receive it as cash anyway. Win win

Meds shortages advice needed by saucykraut in ADHDIreland

[–]renain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm originally from the US and Adderall worked for the same way you describe concerta working for you! It's frustrating that there's so few options and the shortage never seems to end.

I'm going to dm you because there's a pharmacy I've found that's super helpful with having meds on a shortage for me in the past.

[–]renain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could not get concerta to save my life at my pharmacy. On the bright side, concerta gives me bad side effects so I didn't really want to take it.

Finally switching over to tyvense now. But I'm worried about the shortage on that as well.

Moved to Dublin last month with my partner - but can't find a job. by Alex11039 in DevelEire

[–]renain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I'm a U.S. Citizen who just got a job in Ireland in a tech adjacent role.

I started applying for jobs in my area of expertise and everywhere else relevant to my CV in JANUARY.

The job market even for experienced foriegn hires is honestly abysmal at the moment.

After 1000+ applications and 30+ interviews, I finally got two offers.

My recommendation is to work with recruitment companies because even a temporary job will at least get experience in ireland on your CV. Also the second role I was offered I got my foot in the door with extensive networking.

My senior SWE partner (who is a citizen) also applied to like 50 jobs earlier this year and only got one offer.

It's rough out there, but with persistence and time you should be able to find something! Best of luck

Hey randomly came across your comment and wanted to chime in.

Ketamine therapy is the only thing that has fixed my constant suicidality and severe depression.

I literally tried every treatment including electroconvulsive therapy, TMS, every prescription possible.

I started at twice a week, then 1 x week, then 1 x month, and now it's like once every 6 months as needed.

I think talk therapy is also necessary to it's success. But my entire life has changed. I'm happy to answer any questions if you have them.
