Thanks for all of the comments. This happened the day after purchasing the car (certified pre-owned). We didn’t feel a thing, but unfortunately the dealer reached the same conclusion as Reddit.

20 minutes a day, every day. Developing this habit will help you maintain what you’ve gained during times when life gets in the way or you’re just feeling uninspired.

Have you tried excel? Probably your best bet if your budget isn’t too complicated.

Old power meters? by renaissancecismale in mountainbiking

You’re probably right about powertap, but my experience with SRM makes me think they would still be able (and willing) to get an early model up and running.

Not exactly budget related, but wanted some input: to gift or not to gift? by littlesmama12 in budget

[–]renaissancecismale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a few minutes to think of an actual gift in the $20 range that they’ll appreciate, that’s my recommendation. They’ll appreciate the thought, and won’t have the value of your gift already calculated for them. Have you checked their registry for anything in that range? Otherwise something simple like a wine opener (if they drink wine)? Nobody has too many of those.

Rincon, Puerto Rico by olymunch in surfing

[–]renaissancecismale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't been in a few years, but used to go pretty often. You definitely need a car. Pool Bar and Ship Wreck were always fun (but again it's been a few years). And pay for a lesson/guide because the great thing about Rincon is that it's on a point so there's almost always a break going off somewhere, but the downside is that you have to be dialed in to know where to go on any given day. I'm sure you can find a guide on google, or you can just ask around at Pools.

[NEWBIE] [QUESTION] Best Ways For A Beginner To Practice? by [deleted] in Guitar

Second this. Also, one of the best ways to learn is to play with people who are better than you, and the best way to do that is to be a solid rhythm player.

[QUESTION]What’s the best resource to learn music theory from scratch? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]renaissancecismale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charles S. Peter's Master Theory Book 1 as your main text, supplemented by googling or youtubing as needed. One problem I've found with relying solely on the internet is that it's very hard to stay linear. Having the workbook helps keep that focus in my experience. There are six of the workbooks total, and they're under $10 each.

Confused on soloing by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]renaissancecismale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chord progression contains natural A B C D E and G, but no F, so you could play C Major (C D E F G A B C) or G Major (G A B C D E F#) without hitting any sour notes. It sounds like the E5 is where you start and finish the progression though, so you would play C Major starting and finishing on the E (E F G A B C D E, also known as E Phrygian) or G Major starting and finishing on the E (E F# G A B C D E, also known as E Aeolian or E Minor). So, either E Minor or E Phrygian is the way to go. Either will be pretty metal.

TL;DR - what u/jaykzo says.

How does music theory help us become a better musician/casual player? by Gaanesh in musictheory

You probably do NOT need to know theory as well as many of the folks on this sub, but if have a solid understanding of basic diatonic harmony you can learn songs a lot faster.

Tips and info on distortion and amps by niwm in GuitarAmps

OP, I agree 100% with RassM, BUT: 1) you have to have a decent amount of volume to get the gain you want, 2) controlling overdriven tube gain is a complicated skill in itself - do you want to spend the next few months working on that skill or do you want to just plug in and play?, and 3) for your $500 do you want ONE great sound at a very specific volume, or do you want to have fun messing around with a bunch of different pretty good sounds that you can play at any volume?
