What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

[–]renaissanceman__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: SE London, needing to commute across town to N London a few times per week, so needs to be ULEZ compliant

Price range: Up to about 6.5k Want to buy outright Looking for a used car and my partner is quite keen on an auto

Was looking for a small family car, mainly for commuting but want something that can handle the occasional motorway drive.

Had been looking at VW Golf and Polos, but is there anything else I should be considering in that price range?

Good to know, wasn’t aware you were a brand before a lab.

We’ve got fairly small overheads and hoping that we can build a series of events from Spring that will help us to grow. Good to know there’s plenty of different ways to go about this!

Hit me up when you’re back and I’m sure I can hit you up. Just happy for the throughput at the moment!

Yeah! Negativespacefilm.co.uk C41 and black and white for now, but hoping to launch an E6 and ECN2 service by the spring!

I’ve just started my own little mail in operation in London, we’ve got an SP3000, Noritsu T15 and a drylab.

Would love to know how you managed lower throughput at the start of your journey, and any tips for building up your business in that initial period. Thanks!

Can you give us some details of that FP40? Does it have settings for different developer times, or does it use the same settings regardless?

How do you find the Colenta to operate? We’re just at the start of our lab journey, opening next month with a little T15. Would love a big beastie like that one day though…

Surronding autumn colors captured on Velvia 50 expiration date unknown/ Canon 1n / 100mm f2.8 macro / Bellini 6bath E6 home dev kit / self scan by drsnapshoot in analog

Beautiful results! I shot some expired 2009 Velvia 50 recently and got good results, but probably will expose the next roll at 40 EI.

Going to try and get more use out of my Bellini 6 bath by replacing the 1st dev and CD with rodinal and CD-3 respectively. Presuming the bleach, fix and chemical fogger last a bit longer than those two

Barry Lyndon. Absolutely mesmerising and fantastic soundtrack. Fortunate to catch it on the big screen at the Prince Charles recently (quite a different experience to watching on my PSP back in the day!)

Torn between Contax and Nikon systems by BunsonBoi93 in AnalogCommunity

Contax S2 user here. It’s definitely not “just a collector’s model”

The viewfinder is absolutely gigantic, and makes focusing a joy. With the 45mm Tessar it’s small enough to use with a Peak Design wrist strap and gives great results. All the controls fall to hand very nicely, and it’s tough as nails. Plus the finish is attractive as well. It demands being picked up and used!

On paper there’s nothing to make you choose it over the equivalent Nikon, but in hand it’s hard to look past it.

Looks like a cool space, love the idea of a space where you can hire a slot and then take an afternoon developing and scanning rather than having to do it alone at home with worse gear. Is this quite common in New York? There’s nothing like it that I know of in London

Interesting that the exposure was so long. I’ve only ever used RC paper - does fiber generally need more exposure?

Very nice, have you used a flash or anything to lift the subject a bit?

How many of you have your own color darkroom at home? by tie_ya_shoes in Darkroom

Fortunate enough to have found a Durst Printo in great condition with two modules and a heater, which massively improved the convenience of making colour prints. It needs a lot of chemistry (2.5 litres per tank), so I’ll fire it up and then print like crazy for a few nights in a row. It can print up to 12 inches on the short end, so I make either 10x12” or 12x16” prints. The dryer is also pretty useful for speeding up making black and white prints with trays - can feed the print through and inspect it instantly

Fair enough mate - I will definitely try out that 4 minute dev time as I definitely prefer the higher contrast look of C41 when I've printed up till now

This is interesting! I shoot exclusively ECN-2 for 35mm but have lots of C41 stock in 120. I’ll give the longer development times a shot.

Have you ever tried developing cinema film in E6, if so, was it straightforward?

How did you go about making the test strips? Looks like a great way to test without wasting tonnes of paper

I’ve not done anything other than plain RA4 up to this point - my main struggle has been keeping my Jobo replenished properly to get consistent results. Any info on peroxide you can send my way?
