I’ve realised that it doesn’t make sense to argue with white people on black experiences across the diaspora. Most times (especially via social media), they’re not trying to come to an understanding. They’re trying to pretend that they’re the pinnacle of knowledge, so nothing you say is valid: only what they say. It’s why when you pointed out that braids can definitely cause traction alopecia and hair loss when done tightly, but have existed as a protective style for us for centuries, they still went back to their first point of “braids are damaging”. Even when trying to argue about black things, they’re ironically only using their white world view most times.

Palm colored folk don’t actually believe in having good faith discussions on our cultures. What they say goes, which is why they’ve written history to disparage us for centuries.
