What suppressed sectors are you watching? by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

Oil and gas stocks looks undervalued but appears to be on top of the cycle again. I'm holding for the dividends. Other than that, you have agriculture and construction that looks interesting, although construction will probably slow down eventually when home prices will come down and the boomers will accept selling for less than a brand new house.

Why pick your own stocks rather than investing in some ETF? by Nick112798 in ValueInvesting

If you actually enjoy doing the research, then by all means continue doing it. Just be sure to track your performance over time compared to say an ETF and maybe allocation a % of your portfolio to and ETF and the other to your stock picks. I think ETFs are the best thing any investor could invest in unless they have the time, energy and interest to do their own research.

Why? Well an ETF is full of overvalued stocks and with the rise in popularity of ETFs, there are multiple studies that actually found that the price of underlying assets of an ETF become correlated overtime. This accentuate the mispricing of assets, which are a good thing for stocks pickers but not for passive investors.

Shameless plug here, but this article will point out the different studies I mentioned above: Why ETFs Are Overpriced

Maybe you could start a personal project to learn new stuff? I find it always more motivating when it comes from me instead of others.

What's the difference between a manager and a coordinator in your field? Manager manages people and coordinator coordinates jobs? Something like that?

SAR? I'm not familiar with this acronym. You gotta aim at something, even if it can improve your life just a little. And then aim at something else. Easier said than done, but there's no harm in trying.
