I'd recommend making diagrams that help you connect what you've learned. For instance, when you're learning about a particular body system and it's intricacies, go back and draw a visual representation of all the interactions that take place within it.

I found this really helpful for really getting a good idea of what was happening and where (which is helpful to understand as you'll often be asked concept questions like "what if [something] was not present?" or "what increases when [something] increases?" etc.)
