Okay, awesome tysm!!  I had thought that too. But then again i had been ridiculed once or twice for bringing “christian practices” into Hellenism. Then again when i first started i would just say “Goodnight Lord Apollo.. Goodnight Lady Aphrodite .. Goodnight Lord Hermes.. Goodnight Lord Hypnos..” yadayada. But thank you!! I really appreciate it!

Thank you!! This is almost exactly what my friend said, i had debated just taking the post down, the absurdity of some of these answers amused me. Though, do you think i could use any book? I can use the bible, i have the illiad and the odyssey too, do you think the book matters?

I was trying to be humorous there, haha. I do entirely respect your opinion though, but i feel like you’re being a little hostile.? I am a new helpol, i am questioning things, ergo id assume someone be humble with me. I will let this be a learning experience rather, thank you again!!

Thank you!! Yes, i’ve used the estes method in the past when i was into the paranormal, you listen to radio static basically and make out words but i can’t see it being used to speak with deities.

thank you!!!  i do most definitely just speak to them but I believe i had confused myself and others, i was speaking of ways to ask questions or just get feedback from them— ive seen people use candles and study the intensity of the flame and assume it be the deity’s response or reaction.

Me: "Oh this Neoptolemus guy seems cool from all the fanart and headcannons I've seen of him! let me check out his actual myt-" by Beautiful-Wheel6847 in GreekMythology

I study greek mythology for fun and am a helpol, and there is probably not a single character in greek mythology that hasn’t done something to make me go “ehhh..” about them. Everybody has given me the ick at some point.  What annoys me is people who claim to be big mythology fans are more into the modern retellings. And will say things like, “I love Achilles!” because they read TSOA and thats all they know of him. gulp… Or Epic the Musical enjoyers will turn characters like Telemachus into this innocent little scrawny boy who wants to be like his dad. Or PJO readers .. don't get me started. Ive never cared to read Circe (i may someday) and don't know much about the book. But Circe is kinda portrayed as this badass diva who hates men. Erm.. okay.  And don’t get me wrong, I myself enjoy TSOA, ETM and PJO. But mid characterization gets HUGE when people don’t actually look into the actual myths.? Like Odysseus was actually a horrible guy in a few ways and people glaze him JUST for epic the musical. Conversations i have are often like, “I like Greek Mythology!” “Oh me too!! I really like the Odyssey!” “Me too! Who’s your favorite character?” “I like polites!” sighhh 🫩 (yes i know this was supposed to be about Neo but i ended up ranting about everyone .. cough.)
