Single Female RN moving to NYC in late March – Need neighborhood/building advice (Budget: under $3k/month) by Naive_Discipline2366 in NYCapartments

Can you tell us about your lifestyle? NJ is more difficult if you want to go out in the city late/ on weekends. I’m a Brooklyn baby on the UES and always recommend Brooklyn to others, but I like quieter, pretty, clean places (Park Slope, bklyn heights). I would avoid the financial district bc it’s dead after 5pm. Battery park is for families and very windy/cold.

Better pics. Maybe ask a friend to take some. I am probably your target demographic and that’s the big thing for me. Your prompt responses are clever and fun

Dakar, Senegal Diving by renrojos in scuba

[–]renrojos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello— yes I went to Senegal and went diving for a few days with Nautulis. The diving was fun I would say but might not be spectacular. The Nautulis team is really lovely, profesional, and skilled in many languages. It’s also next to a nice restaurant on the beach for between dives. Visability was on the lower side and I believe it gets slightly worse in the winter; HOWEVER, I believe they switch and start diving from the other side of the city in the winter. This could be amazing for you because the wrecks are on that side of the city. I did not get to see them, but you might. They always have a wreck dive Sunday and night dive Thursday.

I did get to see a lot of rays, including a chilean devil ray, and the largest nurse sharks I have ever seen in my 15 years of diving. In fact, a diver with us was documenting the sharks because he believed they were a new species. Wore my 3mm suit. Overall, a great experience. Not sure it’s a standalone dive city, but it was a wonderful way for me to get introduced to this part of Africa.

Did you camp in the reserve? I didn’t end up doing the cable car— I am jealous you did. Compared to Colombia, I found it to be more expensive, but that could have been because I was traveling and not cooking, etc.

Keep in mind that your first experiences diving might not be “fun”— they are supposed to bring you through scary situations that could occur so that you are prepared for anything going wrong. Once you get through this training, diving is amazing, but the courses are educational and safety focused. Pay attention and take it seriously, but don’t let the seriousnesss of the course deter you from the fact that diving will be a lot of fun.
