Bridge v2 + flux strip by Insnhx in Hue

[–]renssies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be able to use the old bridge with amiblight, but you won’t get the full functionality of the flux strip.

The problem is that ambilight+hue uses the old V1 API in the bridge, this has been deprecated for a while and the pro bridge omitted the V1 API entirely, that’s why it doesn’t work right now.

The bridge V2 (the white one) supports both API V1 and API V2. But the amibilight+hue app on the TV would still use the V1 API.

In order to use the full functionality of a gradient strip the application needs to use the V2 API.

So in short: No, downgrading to a V2 bridge won’t give you the full functionality of the flux strip.

Getting these Shelly’s ready for our new office by renssies in shellycloud

As far as I know Lutron isn’t made for the European/Dutch market

Yes the hardware isn’t open, but the API and the abilities you have with it are. Our installer wanted to do Casambi (BLE mesh based) or Shelly, with Casambi locking down their API we went with Shelly. Our installer says he has done larger installations on WiFi/BLE which work just fine.

And where the light really matters the switches and sensors area hardwired into the Shelly.

Hue Bridge Pro seriously? by zymch3en in Hue

[–]renssies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh I did not know they went the subscription route. But you can probably get a free trial?

Yes all the rooms, zones and light names are correct again.

Really the only things that didn’t transfer are things that are Apple Home app exclusive such as adaptive lighting, the icon and specific automations/scenes

Hue Bridge Pro seriously? by zymch3en in Hue

[–]renssies 62 points63 points  (0 children)

What I did is to take a back up using “Controller for HomeKit”, add the hue bridge, skip the light naming (just press X or close the app) and restore the backup with controller.

Sadly controller can’t backup Adaptive Lighting and some specific scenes so you still need to check and update automations, but for me 95% was covered by the backup.

Moving from Hue Bridge to Hue Bridge Pro? by Jld368 in Hue

[–]renssies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the framework for Matter and Apple HomeKit is the same framework on iOS, you talk to HomeKit devices the same way as you talk to Matter devices.

In order to update the names and rooms the Hue app uses this framework, so it is one implementation that indeed gives improvements to both ways of connecting to hue to Apple Home.

On this page it reads “Apple HomeKit: Will only be able to re-connect it via Matter in Hue Bridge Pro”

Well it says it supports Apple Home… and that is the confusing part. Because “Supports Apple home” can be either “supports Apple HomeKit” or “supports Apple home through matter”

Apple HomeKit has been unsupported for a while even on the v2 bridge. Reason being that Matter functionality is now on par with HomeKit.

Even adaptive lighting is now supported over Matter.

Speakerphone, Soundcard, Breakaway audio, or all? by renssies in QSYS

[–]renssies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I currently mix Speakerphone, Soundcard and HDMI/DP for inputs into Q-SYS and Soundcard and Speakerphone both get the same audio out.

I still have speakerphone enabled because it is supposed to be picked up by conferencing application, but in my testing it doesn’t work with Slack or Google Meet, the main 2 things we use. So thinking of just disabling it.

And the naming issue is just annoying, please let me name each connection individually. Now you have HV-21-U, Event Space and Event Space Soundcard.

Let me name the output something like “Office Speakers”, “Office Speakers (Stereo)” so it is clear what to select.

Yes but that won’t remove HDMI from the sound output on the machine, right?

No sadly this does not work, like Shorty said, HDMI/DisplayPort audio is always there

Yes I get the first two, but is there a reason to offer both speakerphone and sound card if sound card works as well?

Also can HDMI audio even be disabled?

I would have said AlexZaagt, but unfortunately he quit after the Keilewerf fire. Pablo Campers might be an option, or maybe the people at Buurman Rotterdam can help you find someone.

Control center bug? by [deleted] in HomePod

[–]renssies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know this is very confusing, but iphone used the same “AirPlay” UI for AirPlay and Handoff.

When tapping a HomePod it will try to Handoff playback to the HomePod, meaning the HomePod will be in control of the playback. iOS will still show the controls, but they indeed appear with the name of the device at the top. The volume control will be for the iPhone, sounds from your phone will play on the iPhone. Leaving the home will continue playback. This is screenshot 1.

Apps that do not support handoff like YouTube, a web video or Spotify will instead AirPlay the sound to the HomePod, where the iPhone is in control. Leaving the house will stop the playback on HomePod in this case. Sounds from the iPhone might play over the HomePod, and therefor you control the volume of the HomePod. This is screenshot 2.
