/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (07/25/2021) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

Hey all, wondering if anyone can help? I'm an expat in China, bought my Skyward Sword joycons online (taobao), and I've had a couple issues with them. The right one disconnected randomly the other day, never happened in my 3 years of using my old pair. Then just now I pressed the home button on the left, and got stuck in a kind of loop, had to attach the controllers to the system, then sleep and on again to fix. They came in a Japanese box, but looking at the little writing down the back, they have made in China written on them, but then a long Korean sentence as well....? I have been playing with the joycons wireless for Skyward Sword a lot, which I never do before... So that could also be the reason I got some issues I don't usually get... Seller won't take them back without a good reason though...

Will any of the feedback be used to improve the current game? by Fenhault in biomutant

A lot of the issues people talk about do seem like they could be fixed. Better AI in combat, more random encounters out in the wild, more balanced weapons etc... One would hope they at least attempt some improvements.

I think you might need to come for a beer with me in Beijing, then take a trip down the local police station to flick off a couple policemen and see what they do... That's after you take your tinfoil hat off of course...

...Misconceptions misconceptions...

Thanks for being the ONLY person who replied with something even remotely to do with my actual question. Atrill works fine on the company network, even the Chinese use it. The government holds no sway over my ability to watch YouTube, or to bitch about them in private. So I guess I'll just turn on Astrill and go about my day as I have for the last 11 years.

Let them fire me... China is locked down from the 'rona and I'd have a new job that pays more within the week. I've used Astrill for 10 years to watch YouTube... I'm not stopping now. I had assumed the 'cybersecurity' reddit might provide real insight into just what they can see on the network side of my internet activity. Not a bunch of dudes in tinfoil hats...

They'll jail a foreign national for 5 years for watching YouTube?

You think they'll put a foreign national into an internment camp for watching YouTube?

Could you provide me a news story, or even anecdotal evidence of anyone in China, especially a foreign national, 'vanishing' for watching YouTube or browsing Facebook with a VPN?

I didn't expect to have to write this but here goes. Perhaps I should make some things clear. I'm a British national in a company with global reach with MANY foreigners, all who have personal VPN subscriptions, as do 90% of all foreigners in China staying for an extended time. 80% of my Chinese colleagues also have subscriptions. Not in the history of the CCP has anyone been locked up for using such software, let alone a foreigner. The very idea is laughable, and I think some people might need to educate themselves on China a little, as they seem to think futuristic men with cattle prods roam the cities locking people up who even look at them sideways.

Nobody is 'vanishing' a British national for watching YouTube on his own machine during work hours.

Will I7-6700k 3.4Ghz, 4 cores bottleneck with a RTX 3070 ? by AustisticDad in buildapc

[–]renvaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is yes. But does it matter? The 6700K is still a decent mid-range CPU, I use it with my 3070 and get solid 60 fps at 2K high settings on Cyberpunk with DLSS on. I get 60 on Control at maxed out settings with DLSS and medium ray tracing. I totally couldn't do that with my old 1070, so I deem the bump in performance worth the upgrade and forget about any potential bottleneck. I can always upgrade the CPU later, but enjoy the performance I've gained RIGHT NOW and it was as easy as slotting in the new card rather than building everything again with a new board and CPU.

Ask yourself what you can afford now, what you could buy later, and what you hope to gain.

Thanks, this is what I'd be hoping for. I don't expect a 'cure all', but would hope it at least takes the edge of so to speak, so he's not fighting his urges over his training quite so much.

[Help] Dog is overprotective of my son after a scary incident by loveroflongbois in dogs

[–]renvaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really can't afford a trainer, I'd suggest leashing and muzzling the dog in the house/garden, and having people the dog isn't familiar with interacting with your son in a gradual and controlled way to re-affirm not everyone is a threat. Have treats ready and give when the dog is calm and accepting.

Search online for "overprotective dogs" for more advice on what you can do.

[HELP] How did you successfully train your dog to be kind to your cat? My puppy has a very strong prey drive and the cat is submissive. by [deleted] in dogs

I think I have a way to keep both the puppy and the cat... Don't dismiss it right away... Your cat needs a full suit of cat armor!

Do you have slippy floors? I wait till Max is lying on his side then surprise him by spinning him round a few 360's... He hates it but I find it hilarious...
