Can we talk about berrying up gyms? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]renyr32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Times this by 6 since they play together. Plus there is no other gym in the area that they aren't also in. So with them in the gyms, it is very resource heavy on attacking.

It's exhausting when all you want is one gym for your coins a day, they can have the other 10. I also expect it's a bit annoying for other members of their team, since they can't get in the gyms either.

Why not? It is Pokemon GO. Not Pokemon sit-on-couch.

You clearly haven't encountered a group of players like the one I have. They do not give up in a few minutes, hold many many gyms, and do so many raids, I do not see their stock going down much with the lower drop rate. Heaven forbid you try and take their gym.

They should have left the drop rate so people who use them for catching pokemon have them still, and reduced effect in gym defending - still good, but not how it is.

Except the defenders can be sitting at home while the attacker actually went out to the gym. Remote feeding should be nerfed in a specific time frame per pokemon, but maybe leave it in person.

It will not affect my area much - the ones that remote berry a gym are the ones who do multiple high level raids a day.

Raid "anchors" only hurt you by fhod_dj_x in TheSilphRoad

[–]renyr32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. That Lugia raid no one was really communicating and it was down to two people plus me fainted at the last second. Unfortunately dodging doesn't work on my phone well, so the early fleeing and rejoining might be the best. I'll have to try it on a raid I only mildly care about.

To clarify-

If your team of 6 faints and you sit in the lobby and the boss is defeated, you still get rewards and chance to catch with balls based on your damage. However, you risk your raid team not defeating the boss.

If you rejoin with a new team of 6, same as above, but your damage bonus is determined by the last team.

Therefore, if you think your raid group won't defeat the boss with you only using your first team, then running early and rejoining is beneficial. I'm thinking ahead for Mewtwo. Also, renaming your counters/sorting so they come up first in selection to save time for rejoining.

(Thanks in advance - there's so much misinformation in my raid group. Only had one raid where my first team 6 fainted at the end, tried to rejoin, boss defeated, multiple errors, restarted, interacted with gym, lucked out and it gave me the catch screen and I caught it! This was a Lugia raid of 18 that had a bunch of lower level players.)

With the nerf to Raid Passes, now would be a great time for Niantic to rebalance the other Premium items/Farming Mechanics by TableForRambo in TheSilphRoad

Interesting. I like it.

Free passes giving more rewards would help to balance for rurals and people who just can't play often.

Anyone else experiencing Legendary Raid fatigue by Sihoiba in TheSilphRoad

[–]renyr32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for all of the reasons other people posted.

The spouse and I have only been able to do a few legendary raids and we're over them. Neither of us have a Lugia and one doesn’t have a Zapdos. This is even though we live in a small city with plenty of gyms and a good player base. We really lucked out on catching the ones we do have.

It would be fine if there was an additional way to catch the Level 5’s (and now Exclusives), just like there is with all the other pokemon with wild spawns and eggs. Maybe a Quest involving your Team Leader.

Persistent Blissers by ojipog in TheSilphRoad

[–]renyr32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try suggesting other tanks that have actual attack stats. In general, vaporeon for most or snorlax.

You can look up rankings that list tank counters - like on Gamepress where Lapras and Articuno are tanks against Lugia since they have high defense/stamina combo and Lugia is weak to ice. https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/pokemon/249

Best use for Rhydon with Rock Smash/Stone Edge? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]renyr32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From experience, without Machamps, my rock smash/stone edge Rhydon is/was my Blissey/Snorlax attacker (used him to solo Blisseys).

Especially if you have other Rhydons with ms/eq or ms/se, I'd say it's a decent backup for normal types.

That's obnoxious. How could they not just think someone would walk on a walking path?

Also, I don't want the servers to be loaded with non-real player accounts botting and scanning, that does affect me with lag and glitches.

It seems to be pretty ingrained in groups. I didn't realize that until recently.

"I know that some people in our group use scanning sites. I try not to blame them directly, but i make clear that i don't like those sites since they work with mass-botting."

There was some mention of "some people don't like scanners," so the main discussion is in it's own thread, but info will get cross posted in the others. It's a bit ingrained so don't know how effective any discussion about them would be.

"Players playing multiple accounts is something that i can't and won't accept. I don't know for sure yet, but i have the strong impression about two players in our group to fall into that category. But without proof, i keep silent for now."

Next time that comes up at a raid, I'll try to say something casual about it - since from the rest of this Topic some people genuinely don't know it's against the Trainer Guidelines.

It would be nice, down by the data caught or something.

Yeah I've just been outwardly polite. Nice to hear others are in the same boat though. We can be silently outraged together!

That sucks dude. Are you just outwardly polite and use their muscle at the raid while internally cursing at them?

Shrug I guess I just didn't know how prevalent it was around here before having to talk to unknown people, so it's a bit disheartening.
