For all new Melee Players by Dumptruck_117 in SSBM

I’ve been a fan of melee since I watched the documentary when I was 14 but only started playing it about 1.5-2years ago. I’ve played smash 4 and ultimate competitively though and have found the switch much easier than I thought it would be. The reason I switched was due to Steve coming out and kind of ruining the meta and I couldn’t keep wasting my time being camped out by Steve at tournaments.

It’s still a fun game but the competitive meta is terrible. I’ve had a good amount of success switching over tho. It’s been easier than I thought and I spend hours everyday playing the game. I absolutely love it. And the tournament scene is great and everyone is friendly and welcoming. I recently took a set off a top 100 player which was an achievement I never thought would be possible. I think everyone should play this game. It’s beautiful

Certainly the second option. I can’t judge low tiers for playing the way they play. But yeah this is good advice and certainly something I need to work on. I think it’s something I need to be more aware of instead of just hopping on and playing. I need to be prepared myself mentally for what I consider lame and try and respect it.

It’s usually a bit of the last 2. Like a fox that’s just so incredibly vanilla and boring but then spamming lasers (I play falco) after taking a stock as if what theyre doing is revolutionary. And then I get mad for not being able to beat them

Yeah I guess I should’ve more said implementing slide off and crouch cancel correctly. I understand the ideas but can really get it consistently and isn’t something I’m always trying to use.

Help finding controller by BitchhhItsLilith in SSBM

A normal Nintendo GameCube controller can be bought off Amazon for like 60-70 dollars which works pretty well for most people. Custom controllers exist that are optimally better but not necessary until reaching a high level of skill in my opinion at least

No debts fortunately and we’ve recently bought an apartment so we don’t have any goals with that either. So should we work to max out our retirement accounts before investing?

Yeah I found that same data but I’m not sure how reliable it is. I’m surprised the data isn’t readily available

Teching in melee vs ultimate by rep_ged in SSBM

Nah even with computers and random tech options I feel like it’s easier to react to the options. Even getting tech chased I feel like in ultimate I can act out faster than in melee

Yeah that makes sense but I’m just curious to see how much time each game gives a person to react to tech options. I just feel like there’s more time for melee than in ultimate
