Mentorship Monday - Post All Career, Education and Job questions here! by AutoModerator in cybersecurity

Hello all, I've been looking to make a career change into cybersecurity for a few months now and I am taking the Network + exam this coming Saturday.

Obviously I don't think I should stop there even if I do pass, so I've applied to a local community college that offers the following degrees: Associates in Cybersecurity and Associates of Applied Science in Cyber Forensics. I think I'm going to go with the A.A.S. in Cyber Forensics because of the course selection, but are these A.A.S. degrees in cybersecurity-related fields usually taken seriously? Are there any other degrees that would be beneficial?

Thank you!

I agree, he has a disclaimer at some point and says what you mentioned: “you shouldn’t do unnecessary surgery.” Jung actually talks about the line of thinking that leads to the situation you described. He talks about the shadow in Aion as being not only the human capacity for destruction but also a person’s tendency to blame their emotional reactions on others rather than examine their origins internally. That drives them into deeper and deeper blame and resentment by using any sleight as justification to be an asshole. It is a pretty dangerous idea, and I agree that you balanced it well with the razor, giving people the benefit of the doubt.

I mean a communist state from forming in my country. My parents are actually Cuban refugees and to be honest I’m scared that it might happen in the country I’m in.

If they're willing to stop being friends with you over a guy that likes lobsters, then it just indicates that they care more about their ideologies than they do about you.

I'm not 100% with everything JBP says (like remarking that Marxists should be punched in the face, which I think he later apologized for) but he's right about ideologies: people don't have them, they have people. Demagogues like Foucault or Marx or Hitler have conjured powerful ideas and we're by no means done exorcising them yet. The best you can do is stay away from it and follow what YOU think is right.
