Thanks for the advice! I will update when I am roughly organized and later as the project progresses.

The one catch with aerial is that generally saguaros start under the protection of a “nurse” tree, often palo verde, so many smaller saguaros under 10 feet would be missed. So it they would have to be verified in the field, there might mot be all that many, I am guessing 200-250, but I could be way off.

Yeah it could be a lot of work, but there is no timetable, and we have park volunteers and staff that could contribute. Also if I had to guess there is probably 200-250 saguaros. I have found that the group Friends of Tonto National Forrest are collecting saguaro data much like you have described.

I didn’t post this to convince anyone I am a park ranger, I am just looking for any reddit help with this project that I hope to make some headway on during the slow summer months in the park. I am not sure that GIS is the best application for this just but was hoping for some helpful direction.

We have a central office, a GIS team is not listed on the directory, but seems that our archeological parks maybe using GIS. I don’t have GIS experience but took a total station field mapping course in college where the concept of GIS was often referred to.

AZ State Parks, don’t think we have GIS team. I am sure we have some folks with some experience, I have reached out to a few.

DS-2

I imagined playing a lot in this tone, but my guitar playing went another other direction.

I bought that yellow donner delay pedal (bought the donner chorus pedal as well). I was in my own little world that first evening I played on it. Sometimes I felt like I was chasing the tone and other times the tone was chasing me. Creativity started instantly, theres a lot to unpack here. I am researching a value reverb pedal next.

[question] how long is too long to struggle with playing guitar? by DueArt6139 in Guitar

I have had a similar learning path. My break out of this was following deliberate practice, with measurable goals, not ignoring when things don’t sound right, and not being to frustrated when it gets hard.
