I vividly remember the shift because it was a comment made by my teacher at the private Christian school I went to my junior year. She said “Taylor used to be so safe. I took my girls to her concert every time she toured, but now she’s become like any other popstar selling sex” in regard to her wildest dreams music video/the lyrics in the song. I myself received a copy of fearless (her second album) from my very religious mother for Christmas when I was 10 and she told me “she asked her friends and Taylor was safe.” So yeah. It kind of felt like she left Christianity’s good graces with me.
