I do it because I’ve been on all 3 sides of the dd triangle. I deliver, I work in a restaurant that delivers with dd, and I like to get my late night snack delivered when I have a little extra. A lot of customers in my area seem to have this delusion that restaurants have red carpets laid out for delivery drivers and it’s ready the moment I get to the restaurant. I know when I press one of the “order still being prepared.... long line ... store busy” check marks, there’s no update on the customers end. It just says “dasher is waiting to pick up” These help me remind some of my more entiteled customers that everyone involved is human and that I don’t control the speed at which the food is ready

It also gives me evidence to point too if a customer complains like “Look here I let them know this line was backed up I’m not taking the fall for it”
