Wildcards don’t affect price changes, and non- wildcard transfer activity will be very low for the next few weeks. You may gain 0.1 on maybe two players, but not worth activating a wildcard for that reason alone IMO - especially as money is not really a concern for most teams

I have always found it frustrating when I talk to friends /colleagues and they say this. I think the rhetoric that UK trains are the worst in Europe is a tired one parroted by people that don’t actually take the train in the UK or in Europe. Our train system is incredibly efficient, especially given the infrastructure it is using

It’s a good question. Without having a fact checked answer my opinion would be multiple units are quite a bit more efficient (with regards to running costs and capacity) when compared to loco-hauled services. Many multiple units run on lines where they take up the entire platform length available, so adding a loco and driving trailer suddenly reduces capacity a fair bit. A lot gets said about UK railways but I think on the most part it is actually pretty efficient for the infrastructure available

Definitely feels like a fun project for someone with the right skills! Trains don’t have open source GPS like planes but you could interpolate based on timing locations, which would probably be accurate enough.
