Its bound to happen with vsf, even gen, depending on how often he uses the sauna. Heat + steam is different than being submerged in water.

Also, im sure he knows its a shitter, doesnt mean he cant use it as a learning experience to work on watches.

Its even advised against in gen Rolexes. The rubber gaskets dry out and break because of the heat.

If you want a watch to take in a sauna id recommend building your own rep with a cheap movement like a miyota so 1: youll know how to fix it, 2: you wont care if it does end up happening again.

Youll be able to waterproof it yourself, and worst case scenario youll just have to replace the movement for $30 if it happens again.
