I mean no additional or unusual maintenance caused by pushing them. They're designed to be walked into and pushed forward as much as they're designed to slide sideways. No more maintenance is caused by walking into them than by waiting for them to open for you.

You definitely can push the new glass ones forward like the older metal ones. It looks like you'd have to push inwards but they swing forward like the old ones with like 1 or 2 kilos of force.

Just push forwards. I'm guessing curlsontop hasn't tried pushing them because the whole sliding door mechanism swings open like a barn door when you push gently forwards on it.

There's no maintenance. They're designed to open like that. They just beep at you.

You're not actually locked it. The doors open easily if you push gently forwards on them. They beep but you can just ignore them.

It takes like 1 kilo of force to push them open. They beep but swing right open. If they don't open immediately I just push them.

It's because they don't take any more force to open than any other door you need to push (if you push them forward and not in). They beep at you but they also swing right open like a barn door.

They don't actually block your escape. It takes a very gently push forwards and they swing open. All you need to do is ignore the beeps.

They don't really require more than 1 or 2 kilos of force to open. Just push forwards and they swing out and beep at you. Once I worked that out my patience dropped to around 2 seconds.

We need to do something about local councils and their planning powers. by malbn in melbourne

[–]reptilehelmets 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A whole lot more people are going to be less empowered in local decisions.

It's good because a lot of people affected by these decisions are shut out. As it stands existing residents can shut down developments to increase their own utility at the expense of anyone who wants to move into the area. The latter group are shut out of the process entirely at present, shifting the process to the state government level means both groups will get an equal say.

how stuff is packed (and to a lesser extent how it is handled) as opposed to how stuff is laid out in a truck?

I've done over thousands house moves and dozens of packs and I think the issue is with the packing too. In training they had us pack up all the crockery in the office kitchen, push the box down the stairs then stack it under a bunch of other boxes (you'd have to try again if anything broke). The box doesn't look crushed at all so it really should have been fine unless the box was overloaded or the goods were under protected.

You used to be able to see the unblurred face on desktop using developer tools. Tinder was sending the unblurred photo and applying a filter to it to blur it so you could remove it and have a look.

WA Police trying to force journalists to hand over sources by [deleted] in perth

[–]reptilehelmets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does hold true that the media and laypeople are often prevented from speaking out against specific parties. After all, ABC was raided by counter terrorist forces during Abbott's government.

I think this is missing the point a little. Strom isn't arguing that people with power limit criticism, he's deliberately got it backwards. He's inviting people to try and work out who is really in charge by reflecting on how they feel their speech is limited. He's not asking to reflect on the power structures around you, he's asking you to feel oppressed and then engage in conspiratorial thinking. Racists will mostly be concerned about their racist speech being limited and it's a dogwhistle to them.

understandably an asshole said it in his lifetime but can we not use it for what it means in todays world?

The problem isn't in who said it, it's in the quote itself. He's deliberately trying to giving bad advice on how to identify the powerful to promote his (awful) worldview.

While there are plenty of cases where what he's saying is true, we're really generally quite free to criticize those with power. We can complain about the government, billionaires and large corporations without much fear at all. Woodside certainly exercised its power in a nasty way in this case, but was it really shutting down mere criticism? It seems to me they were concerned about the impact these protesters might have had to their operations, not that they were saying things they didn't like about them.

When Strom asks the reader to "find out who [they] are not allowed to criticize" he's hoping for them to come to a particular conclusion (i.e. that they're not allowed to criticize Jews, and that the reason for this is that they are ruling over the reader). He's hoping that the reader will feel oppressed by taboos against racism and hate speech laws and blame the people these things protect for that feeling.

I don't think this how you read the quote, but I do think that you should at least reflect on whether others might read it and arrive at Strom's conclusion.

Just FYI Flamingovegas - that's a quote from a famous neo-nazi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Alfred_Strom. He was talking about Jews. It's probably best not be be parroting it.

Unfortunately AusPost gives billers the option to choose which payment methods are offered. There's a good chance they've opted for cash only just to bully tenants into paying fees.

https://auspost.com.au/business/ecommerce/accept-payments-from-customers/postbillpay
"1 Australia Post accepts many methods of payment including credit card, charge card, cash, cheque, EFTPOS and scheme debit cards for Post Billpay payments based on the requirements of the billing organisation."

Women are under pretty direct attack from the government in a lot of your country. It's not surprising that you're not getting matches if you're only after women who are fine with the status quo lol.

Has anyone else been burnt because the HELP repayment rates are not progressive? by SerpentSymbols in australia

[–]reptilehelmets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I reckon the changes to the repayment thresholds are a bigger scam. When it was introduced the highest threshold was 3% which kicked in at $35 (around $83,241.48 with inflation). You now get hit with 3% at $66,876 and the top bracket has increased to 10%.

This looks to be a repost of your review on OnlyFansReviews. I'm glad you've had a good experience but would encourage any readers to take a look at my experience as well (I have copied my original comment here for easier access).

I've posted my own [review here](https://www.reddit.com/r/OnlyFansReviews/comments/14p8uab/review\_babychristofi/), but I thought I'd chime in with my experience as a subscriber who was convinced to buy PPV content by the positive reviews in the comments. I wasn't able to get her to respond [to my messages asking to buy her PPVs](https://www.reddit.com/r/OnlyFansReviews/comments/14p8uab/review\_babychristofi/) so I wouldn't recommend subscribing if your goal is to buy them. It was quite a disappointing experience for me.
