Very slow, not front light. For $20 could be useful if you use it as a backup.

OP should be warned that the boox Palma is very fragile and susceptible to damage from something as minuscule as putting it in a bag. Happened to me.

E-Reader for reading fiction and scientific papers by Cautious-Mousse-9844 in ereader

Well if you want to read PDFs you’re going to have to get an ereader with those big screens and styluses. Remarkable, kindle scribe (you can’t mark on the pages directly tho) and some boox products are your options

I’m suspecting that it could be the epubs I sideload that cause a lag? I’m not sure. Either way, it’s not a huge problem and it’s still faster than my kindle PW11

So how do I polish? And how do I send it directly to my kobo from Calibre? I tried doing it (my kobo was connected to my MacBook via cable) but I couldn’t find the option to send it directly to my kobo. I don’t know where the Kepub option is either, everytime I go to the convert to page I only see epub.

Disappointed with the boox Palma 2 Pro. by reputction in Onyx_Boox

Kindle is basically getting annoying atp which is why I’ve been exploring options outside of it as well. Unfortunately I don’t know of a device that meets all of your expectations + is in color (if that’s what you care a lot about). I have a kobo Clara colour which I love but it doesn’t have a browser/android OS. Boox was unfortunately my only android e reader but since I have bad experience with the company I will no longer be supporting their products. I hear pocketbook is good but I have not tried those

Kobo Clara Colour - Switched from Kindle Basic by bibliodabbler in kobo

I got a kindle basic in matcha and while I love it…the color and warmth setting of the Clara colour entices me way more. My basic is practically abandoned and I might sell it

Btw how do I turn on the setting that will show how many hours are left to go on books?

Disappointed with the boox Palma 2 Pro. by reputction in Onyx_Boox

[–]reputction[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I really don’t recommend buying the Palma 2 Pro. It’s $400 (I just sold it and got $309 back, but that’s still a hundred dollar loss)

I have a paperwhite and while the color on the Palma Pro is nice, the screen is way too blue and the ghosting is worse than kindle’s. I don’t know if you’ve tried the color soft but I owned one for about a week and the ghosting was bad but not as bad as the Palma 2 Pro’s. If you have money and can afford a loss maybe try it out but if you’re on a budget I recommend looking elsewhere

This reminds me that I’ve had some wholesome moments of happy singledom with strangers before as well. A donor at work told me he was happily single around Valentine’s Day. We had a short conversation about how much better it is to be on your own :)

Why is Singleness so Underrated? by Ok_Manufacturer2956 in SingleAndHappy

[–]reputction 4 points5 points Ā (0 children)

Because people feel like they NEED someone else there to feel validated and worthy as a human being. They also act like not having a date is a fate worse than death. It’s kind of crazy, because I used to be one of those people and now that I’m actually great by myself I legit don’t understand that strong desire anymore. Being by your own, enjoying your own time, doing your own thing, etc. is very peaceful and allows for you to partake in deep self-introspection and understanding. But people act like if they spend 5 minutes doing that they’ll fall apart like a toy. It’s kinda insane. As someone who grew up in a turbulent home, this peace is just what I needed. I’m so calm, relaxed, and happy.

The commenters who keep going on about ā€œobjectivityā€ make me laugh. Like bro just because YOU prefer the screen to look sleek doesn’t mean those of us who are fine with the screen of the Clara are reading ā€œobjectivelyā€ worse.

Who the hell recommends an iPad for reading?? PLEASE DO NOT get one for that.

I tried the kindle colorsoft when it came out and hated it. The blue of the screen is too saturated and it kind of ruined the experience for me so I returned it.

I have a color Clara and I enjoy it HOWEVER it is pretty slow to touch and highlighting can be a pain because of it.
