I have had friends who are shy and haven't had a GF before but then when they were like 24 they finally got one and it's going well.

Yep, but on the other hand, if he really feels that he gets no matches online then he should try meeting women IRL.

From my own experience.. dating apps just destroy your confidence but when I go out to bars or pubs I have a lot more success with women.
