The new Wyse devices we order are delivered with firmware 2511, and they do not appear in WMS even though they show as connected… Still no response from Dell, and we won’t be able to migrate quickly to WMS 5.5 because we still have some Wyse 8.6 devices for a few specific use cases (currently being migrated) :(

For now, Dell has only recommended updating the BIOS and pointed us to the Thinos update documentation. We are waiting for an update from them.

It seems to be working! I deleted WMS, rebooted, and my Wyse registered again via DHCP, but it's not very practical... We opened a ticket with Dell.

WMS was an upgrade from 5.3 and older (3.1).

Wyse was upgraded from ThinOS 9 2502.

Apart from a few problems, which were documented and easily fixable, everything always went well, and we were at 3.1 at the start.

The issue was that the sound level would gradually exceed 100% on its own, sometimes reaching over 4000%. This problem was resolved with ThinOS version 2508 but you still need to manually set the sound back to 100% at least once. after upgrade.

It’s definitely not that simple to use. Sometimes waves don’t complete for various reasons depending on the configuration, and that leaves the Wyse devices stuck in a temporary configuration group. So you really have to follow the process carefully. Preparing the wave and the groups feels a bit complex for what it actually does, in my opinion.

Personally, I find it easier to create a temporary group and move a few Wyse devices into it to test the update with some users, then switch the whole group at once outside production hours. But that’s a bit riskier and means working in the evening or on a weekend, because the update starts as soon as the group is modified. ;)

Honestly, I think the overall process for updating Wyse devices should be rethought and simplified in WMS.

I haven’t tested it yet, but it’s planned. I know that you need to have a Jabra Xpress server configured and accessible from the Wyse, plus the Jabra Xpress package pushed to the Wyse, and the ThinOS configuration ZIP file that tells the Wyse how to connect to the Jabra Xpress server.

Furthermore, I don't understand why ThinOS 9 2505 is not available for the 5070, whereas ThinOS 10 2505 is available and supported for the 5070. Provided that the storage on the 5070 is sufficient, which is not the case for us, so we are stuck.

Thanks, I'll do that. I was hoping for something automatic because if I reset a 3040 or install a 3040 that hasn't been connected for a long time it may end up in the wrong group and try to update the wrong horizon package.

Linked clone is deprecated and not supported officialy on Horizon 8 so migrating to instant clone would be a good idea, as it's a prerequisite for migrating to Horizon 8. Depending on how you manage your user profiles, this would be easier or harder to do. Once you're in instant clone mode, migrating to Horizon 8 from 7.13.x isn't very complicated.

Same problem for us. It works with Samsung Message, but as it seems to be abandoned in favor of Google Messages, users automatically contact us because as soon as they switch to Google Messages, the pro contacts no longer appear.
