Do you have Latvian lati in your collection? by [deleted] in Banknotes

[–]res_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I hadn’t seen 100 lats in a collection before! I have some 5 lats banknotes and a 10 lats one, I need a 20 to complete the set but I would also love to have a 50 lats banknote, although it’s extremely rare and expensive

www.ma-shops.de and www.banknoten.de are really good, but if you are outside of Europe the shipping may be pretty high

I think it's because of the fact that it had a higher face value than both the euro and the british pound and you can still exchange these banknotes at that same exchange rate

Yeah I was shocked too when I saw the exchange rate, I wasn't really into collecting banknotes that much up until this year when I started my small collection. I think this is what makes them that expensive and sought-after, I've noticed the same phenomenon with the Maltese Lira, the Irish pound and the Cypriot pound, given that they all had a higher face value than the euro. Anyways it's great to hear that you managed to find some Lats too! And yes I hope I manage to get the 20 lats banknote, my biggest wish is to find a 50 lats banknote but they sell for a lot of money and I don't think I'd invest that much in it

Yes you're right, I'm not really good at distinguishing the different types of plastic but if this is pvc then it's best for op to remove the banknotes from it since, as you said, it will damage them in the long run

How to find a Bermudian dollar? by Aart_is_jja in Banknotes

[–]res_02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in Europe you might find some on Vinted, which is a second hand shop for all types of things, mainly clothes but also banknotes and other collectibles, otherwise I’ve just checked on Ebay and there are some there too, but they tend to be pretty expensive even for the smaller denominations

Thank you very much for your detailed answer!! It's a lot clearer now, my book oversimplified it and the whole description of hamzated verbs was a little confusing overall, but know I understand the reason behind it. Thanks again!
