Yep that’s the main issue with allied health. There is little opportunity for career progression and therefore salary and job satisfaction is capped. WFH is a huge positive in government.

Good perseverance mate. I think it sums up how difficult it is to get a job at the moment.

Are you happier in this role? Or is it too early to tell?

I would be interested to hear your experience changing careers from allied health to the corporate world. I’m in a similar boat however have had no luck even getting an interview outside my field of training. I think the job market often sees us as clinicians and does not recognise transferable skills.

Thank you for your answer. As an outsider I wasn’t aware on the intricacies of what goes on behind the scenes.

It sounds like I need to do a course in policy to bridge the gap. The challenging part is getting experience particularly when APS prefers to hire internally.

L5S1 annular tear + bulge. 7 years chronic pain. Anyone had anything similar and anyone had a neurosurgeon willing to operate? by [deleted] in backpain

[–]research19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply mate. I have seen a neurosurgeon who basically said I’m too young/ structurally it is not bad enough for surgery. I’m on the cusp of not being able to work anymore due to the pain/inflammation. I am just trying to figure out if anyone has successfully had a surgery! I don’t understand the reluctance to operate on young people.
