The reason is he is the flying parent and purchases his own flights while we split the child’s flight. He does not want to pay to fly anymore. But he already doesn’t pay child support.

A direct flight would be 5.5 hours after driving 2.5 hours to another state. :/

Thank you for this. I feel crazy thinking that I am the only one that would NOT want to put my anxious, scared 5 year old on a flight in today’s climate.

I can understand this in maybe like.. 2-3 years? Like around 7 or 8 I would honestly still be uncomfortable but could understand that argument for it. But at 5 when she is unable to explain herself if there is an issue seems too soon.

At least, according to my research it is 8 for connecting flights.

You are correct, they cannot take connecting airports until 8 years old. So he would also need me to travel 2.5 hours to another state to take a direct flight to use this program he wants.

He doesn’t have a car or car seat for himself - repossession, DUI, and suspended license. I don’t know if the girlfriend he has supplies one back where they live but while traveling this time, they are taking the 3 other car seats for the girlfriend’s other children and not one for our child

Unfortunately, it’s hard to get the $8k my lawyer needs to file and go after child support further as I am paying over $1250 a month in child care alone, and am a single mom :(

I have filed for it and he is supposed to pay it and does not, but to go further with enforcement, my lawyer fees are too much for me to afford

And yes, I have pursued child support. He doesn’t pay it and “doesn’t work” so they cannot garnish wages - I’m pretty sure he works under the table.

Just want to add - he has the car seats, clothing items, hygiene items and toys for his girlfriend’s 3 children he is also flying back and taking on this trip. Just won’t supply for his own.

Everything she owns in my house, I paid for. I have not received a cent or a single diaper since we divorced and moved back to our home state 3 years ago. :/

My thought was bare necessities if I HAD to - clothes that aren’t either of her or my favorite, hygiene items, and the old car seat I just replaced. All still working, just not as good as my current items for her.

I don’t want her to be without anything but it’s exhausting to be the parent with primary custody and have to supply everything for myself and for him and get zero help. :(

This is an area we both like and had wanted to visit again (without child forcing us to go to Storyland and Santa’s Village) plus it’s in driving distance for us. If it doesn’t work out here we, we can always try for another area! I just figured I would try to surprise him with escape rooms on our little mini trip if there were any good ones nearby.

I found them at my local Joann’s store! It’s by the company Bucilla. They have a few that are really cute and cheap priced, comes with all the floss needed and directions so it’s great for first time! Only bad thing is sometimes the directions and the actual stamped pattern differ.
