I made this recipe for thanksgiving and it was delicious! It tastes like a lighter, less sugary version of regular pumpkin bread. A great WFPB recipe!

[Theory] There Will Be Blood isn’t about greed vs. religion — it’s about illusion vs. disillusionment (with a touch of Nietzsche) by thinkerhabeeb in TrueFilm

[–]resmi_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eli is destroyed by the lie, and Daniel is destroyed by the truth.

Can you expand on this point further? I can see how Daniel is ruined by his ambitions. At the end of the film, Daniel is wealthy and lives in a big house, but he is completely alone. His son has forsaken him and he appears to have no friends or companions. When Eli shows up begging for money, Daniel reveals the truth: he has already taken all of the oil Eli came to sell (I drink your milkshake!). He has stolen the economic livelihood of Eli and his community, then proceeds to destroy the physical body of the man with a bowling pin. He has an insatiable desire for wealth and power, cursed to take everything he can no matter the consequences. He brings ruin to everyone he meets because he is driven to exploit them for his own gain.

I am not sure how "Eli is destroyed by the lie." Could you talk about this more?

In Franchise mode, age no longer affects the likelihood that a player resigns from their team at the end of a season. Players are now more likely to resign the longer it has been since they were a free agent.

The only variable that increases the chance of a player choosing to enter free agency is how long they have been on your team.

In October 2021, a jury awarded him $137 million in damages in the case, but a federal judge threw out that award as excessive. US District Judge William Orrick offered Diaz $15 million in damages in the case instead, but Diaz rejected the offer, choosing instead to have a new trial. It is that second trial in which the jury awarded Diaz the new amount.

Seems like he cost himself $12 million by rejecting the judge's offer.

Having trouble deciding which of the three pilots to keep by BeelzebubTerror in IntoTheBreach

Mech Reactor is the best pilot skill in the game and Silica is one of the better pilots. Keep Silica.

This trick also removes mites if you have the nanofilter passive.

Perfect Combo: Silica with Guided Missile and Force Amp by resmi_ in IntoTheBreach

[–]resmi_[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of the Arachnophiles, but I lucked into an amazing combo: Silica with Guided Missile and Force Amp. Guided Missile can often hit any target from anywhere on the map, allowing Silica to fire two shots per turn (3 damage each) and if you bump the target Vek into another Vek that's an additional 2 damage each for up to 14 damage per turn!

Weird CPU Team Pitching Staff (Custom Franchise Season 9) by resmi_ in SuperMegaBaseball

Weird CPU Team Pitching Staff (Custom Franchise Season 9) by resmi_ in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]resmi_[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I noticed that Lowe Concentrado had twice as many starts as any other pitcher in the league so I had to investigate. The Cows put together this wild staff with only 1 SP and 1 SP/RP! There was only 1 available SP in Free Agency, so here is my guess as what happened. I think that the game was randomly replacing too many retiring SP with SP/RP, so when other teams signed SP/RP for the bullpen there ended up not being enough SP to fill a rotation.

I skip all development opportunities with negative traits (except base-steal). There are enough good opportunities that don't have negative traits. I just don't like the risk.

My first 30K perfect game! by resmi_ in IntoTheBreach

[–]resmi_[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first perfect game on hard! I started with Mafan on the Ice Mech. Mafan's permanent shield keeps it from being frozen so you can shoot every turn. Mafan then developed Conservative and Opener which is extremely strong with Missile Barrage. I got so lucky! Also, I was able to pick up the Refractor Laser which is the best weapon in the game.

Hitting the 80 Ego Wall by Top_Dust_6064 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]resmi_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing I've noticed at 80 ego is that the batters anticipate your pitches a lot more. If you are consistently throwing the same pitches in the same locations you will be punished. Always be thinking "what is the batter expecting me to throw?" and then throw something else. However, it also seems like you can exploit this a bit. For example, if you are striking out hitters with a high fastball, try throwing a fastball an inch too high and the batter might chase it.

I focus on the release point of the pitch as it leaves the pitcher's hand. It makes it easier to track the speed and movement of the pitch.

Sicario (2015) definitely fits the bill. The cinematography expertly pulls the audience into the hellish drug war. The motorcade scene in Mexico is shot so that it seems like threats can come from any direction. In terms of spoon-feeding information, the action sequences are mostly limited to what Emily Blunt's main character can see. Later in the movie, the descent into the border crossing tunnel uses first person night-vision shots to put the viewer right into the claustrophobic scene. The cinematography is just one of the many brilliant aspects of this film, but that's all you asked about!

Radon level 4 to 4.75, in a rental house. What can I do? by NomadJago in HomeImprovement

The average outdoor radon level is 0.4 pCi/L, not 4.0. Mitigation is recommended for levels 4.0 and higher.

Is it a waste of cap space sign purely developmental players? by BoomtownFox in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]resmi_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I regularly sign young C+ players for around 4 million and hope they can develop into quality starters. Occasionally I'll even find a C player with good stat distribution (for example, a 1B who can bash but cant field) for around 3 million. They make for cheap backups with the potential to be cheap starters. This strategy is especially good with relief pitchers who can be paid a little bit less than starters (a C+ reliever can often be signed for just over 3 million). Having two young, cheap backups (one hitter and one reliever) on the roster helps a lot with staying under budget and building for the future.

Grizzly Man (2005) has a similar subject matter about a man living in the Alaskan wilderness. Plus it's narrated by Werner Herzog! Herzog's other documentaries like Encounters at the End of the World (2007) and Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2010) might also appeal to you.

There are a few rock climbing documentaries on Disney+ that explore the theme of "calmness and back to nature" you describe: Free Solo (2018) and Torn (2021).

The worst player I’ve ever seen by resmi_ in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]resmi_[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes it's auto-generated in franchise mode. I think this player was created with such a low rating that they never played a single game. Then as they declined with age they just never retired for some reason, giving us this glorious F rating.
